Route description

Mars here is a village outside Moscow, the starting side of a long northbound outing towards Oreshki and Vishenki. Early on, the road crosses the Moscow River before gradually leaving its broad valley for woodland and village surroundings. Beyond Oreshki, another separate forest section remains before the journey reaches Vishenki. This option suits a runner interested in linking small settlements in one day and finishing well away from the start. Its main riverside stop is the Mars–Kozhino road bridge. The famous suspension bridge near Markovo is not included. The older forest passage north of Oreshki needs checking beforehand because its current accessibility is unverified.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Begin beside a large river and finish in quieter village surroundings north of Oreshki. The appeal lies in the changing places: after the Moscow River come woodland connections, small settlements and a separate return from Vishenki. The first road-bridge stop offers a river view; a walk to the suspension crossing can be arranged independently.

Nearby

The Mars suspension bridge connects the Markovo and Mars surroundings, separately from this option’s road crossing. It needs an independently permitted approach, and its condition should be checked before visiting. St Nicholas Church near Oreshki also requires a separate approach and is not an assumed stop. The Moscow River here is not presented as an equipped beach or drinking source.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Mars bus stop is the starting-side reference, requiring a separately chosen permitted approach to the southern start. Vishenki bus stop lies beside the final village passage before the endpoint. Check current services in both directions and the return on your chosen day. Do not assume a railway station immediately beside either endpoint.
By car
Arrange a drop-off on the Mars side and collection in Vishenki. These are separate settlements, so returning to a car at the start needs its own plan. Choose an accessible village street for collection rather than a point within the forest passage. The Markovo suspension bridge is not a vehicle connection.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Check where a car may be left near the selected drop-off and whether long stays are permitted. Do not count on a space at a bus stop, private entrance or bridge approach. Keep the village road clear when collecting the group in Vishenki.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 501 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 29%, Asphalt 27%, Compacted dirt 16%, Unknown 20%.
Риски The older forest passage north of Oreshki is not confirmed as a current path. Check present access and prepare a permitted backup exit; do not force a way through closed property to preserve the original plan. Take care around vehicles on village roads and the road bridge. Rain makes dirt connections slower, while junctions require attention. Road drainage is not an access point to water. The complete option requires experience of sustained running and independent navigation.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 24 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow a separate day, starting early and leaving time for woodland junctions, road connections and the return. No verified overall completion time is available. Confirm the northern passage and transport from Vishenki before scheduling stops. A separate suspension-bridge visit extends the outing and needs its own approach without using the reserve for the final section.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry, cool weather after woodland ground has dried is preferable. Prolonged rain complicates the northern section, and autumn calls for finishing it in daylight. Snow and ice can conceal junctions and worsen road approaches. Choosing a season does not replace checking the older passage towards Vishenki.
