Route description

Two suspension crossings over the Moscow River give this long running outing its distinctive character. From Polushkino, the route reaches Vasilyevskoye, where the Resurrection Church beside the first crossing dates to Peter the Great’s era. Village and woodland connections then lead towards Khotyazhi, Ulitino and Karinskoye. Karinskoye brings the second river crossing and the Katyusha memorial beside the western road fork. The later section returns to the woodland side of Sharapovo and the small Setun before finishing near Chastsovskaya. This is a long independent day for a prepared runner, with historical stops and both footbridges requiring checks before travelling.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
See the Moscow River in two different places and follow the changing character of its banks. Vasilyevskoye adds a historic church, Karinskoye brings wartime remembrance, and the later Setun woodland offers a quieter continuation after village roads. Different railway endpoints let this broad arc finish without retracing the same route.

Nearby

Karinskoye has the Dary Duba Oak Museum, offering an introduction to oak uses and an acorn-coffee programme. The owner requires advance booking; admission is not included in an ordinary road passage. The Shcherbatov manor near Vasilyevskoye also needs a separate approach and access check. The countryside Setun near Sharapovo is a different watercourse from the Setun in western Moscow; springs and rest sites used by other options are not promised here.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Arrive at Polushkino railway stop and use the current exit towards the starting side. Plan the return from Chastsovskaya: the endpoint is separate from the platform centre, requiring time for a permitted approach. Check selected train stops and available crossings. Timetables from former marathons are unsuitable for present planning.
By car
Arrange a drop-off near Polushkino and collection on the Chastsovskaya side. Returning to a car at the start needs separate transport. Both suspension crossings are pedestrian passages, so vehicle support requires its own permitted road plan. Do not expect to follow the group through woodland or private entrances.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Check where a car may be left near the selected drop-off and whether all-day parking is permitted. Do not count on spaces beside platforms, church entrances or bridge approaches. Collect the group without blocking the road or passenger exit.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 650 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 52%, Dirt 8%, Artificial surface 4%, Unknown 30%.
Риски Check that both suspension footbridges are open, including their decking and railings. Damage or closure calls for an independently revised plan; neither a ford nor ice replaces a bridge. Walk calmly on narrow decking without running or crowding, and reconsider crossings in strong wind. Watch for vehicles on village-road connections and wet ground in woodland hollows after rain. Check permitted passage at gates. The complete option requires sustained-running preparation and energy for the final woodland section.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 7 h 43 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Keep a full day free and start early, allowing for both crossings, historical stops and the train from Chastsovskaya. No verified overall completion time is available. Former marathon participants’ results should not determine your own schedule. Arrange church or Oak Museum admission separately and allow additional time.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Cool, dry days with stable woodland surfaces are preferable. Prolonged rain complicates hollows and makes wooden decking slippery; strong wind is a reason to revise river crossings. Check bank approaches after high spring water. Winter snow and ice require separate assessment of bridges and woodland connections.
