Route description

Zvenigorod station begins a substantial woodland run with time to see Sima’s water and pass the Belozyorovo side. The opening section leads west from the station neighbourhood, through the Nakhavnya and Ostrovnya sides and Shikhovo, then continues into woodland. Sima has its own short water-side approach. Pause on dry accessible ground and leave the surrounding bog intact. The southern continuation reaches the Setun River near Sharapovo. The return then passes the Belozyorovo side and Ostrovnya valley before reaching Zvenigorod’s station neighbourhood again. This outing suits runners who enjoy prolonged woodland exercise and see pauses beside water as part of a substantial day. Take wet places slowly, retain energy for returning, and avoid treating protected nature as a place to search for shortcuts.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
For experienced runners prepared for prolonged exercise and independent woodland navigation. The complete circuit is unsuitable as a young children’s walk. Dog arrangements and full stroller or bicycle access are not separately established. Animals are prohibited at the MSU biological station itself, whose premises are not included in this run.

Nearby

The MSU Zvenigorod Biological Station is an active scientific and teaching institution. Buildings, laboratories and excursion programmes require separate arrangements; the station offers independent educational visits for school groups. This is not a service included in the run. Zvenigorod’s town centre, monastery sights and urban walks also lie beyond this circuit and need an additional plan and time.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Begin at Zvenigorod station on the Belorussky rail direction. The run starts beside the station side and returns to the same neighbourhood, followed by a separate platform approach. Check trains for your travel date and allow time for that final approach. Shikhovo, Novoshikhovo and Belozyorovo have bus stops along the way; an earlier finish depends on the current timetable and a chosen safe road exit.
By car
Use a permitted road side at Zvenigorod station for drop-off and collection after returning. The woodland circuit does not envisage car support. Do not assume vehicle access through the reserve or scientific station. For a shorter outing, arrange a separate collection on a public road beside a suitable settlement.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Determine lawful vehicle arrival arrangements beside Zvenigorod station before travelling. Woodland rides, Sima’s bog side and biological station entrances are not places to leave a vehicle.

What to expect

Places
Sima Quarry an actual woodland waterbody in a protected natural complex, with a short approach returning to the main continuation; walking onto the floating bog mat is excluded.
Setun River near Sharapovo a riverside stop on the southern continuation; this is the local Sharapovo watercourse rather than Moscow’s urban Setun valley.
Ostrovnya Stream an actual watercourse encountered on different sides of the substantial woodland circuit.
Nakhavnya Stream a small watercourse on the departure from and return towards Zvenigorod’s station neighbourhood.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 576 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 26%, Dirt 8%, Asphalt 6%, Unknown 60%.
Риски A prolonged woodland outing calls for spare water, food and the ability to maintain direction along similar-looking forest rides. Rain can slow movement through wet depressions and river approaches. At Sima, remain off the floating vegetation, avoid diversions through the bog and do not treat the waterbody as an equipped bathing place. Protect plants in the reserve, avoid collecting natural objects and observe restrictions on site. Cross roads and railway lines only using authorised passages.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 6 h 18 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The full duration of this circuit is not established. A prepared runner should reserve a substantial part of the daylight period for movement, the Sima approach, pauses and return to the station. Plan around your own woodland pace and retain spare time before the return train. Published durations for other Sharapovo–Zvenigorod or Zvenigorod–Polushkino routes do not automatically apply to this complete version.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry, snow-free weather is most convenient when forest rides and water-side approaches are passable. Spring mud or prolonged rain can turn wet places into obstacles. During summer, start in cooler conditions and carry water and tick protection. Spare daylight is particularly useful in autumn. Check winter access for the whole circuit separately before travelling.
