Route description

This Velo1 variant brings together two distinct outings: urban passages along the Yauza and a separate canal-side ride beginning at Yakhroma. The Moscow day includes Rostokino Aqueduct and a continuation to central embankments, with northern branches towards Mytishchi. The countryside part starts anew at Yakhroma. Its appeal is the waterway itself: banks, passing vessels and sustained riding beside water. The longer corridor continues beyond Dubna towards the Konakovo outskirts, but the organizer has not confirmed commissioning that extension. Do not treat it as an openly available stage; finish on the accessible section until its status is checked. Travel separately between the Moscow and Yakhroma outings.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
This is a set of separate cycling days, rather than a ready continuous departure from Moscow. Northern availability is confirmed on the open Yakhroma–Dubna section; continuation towards Konakovo requires its own check and may be unavailable. The complete variant is unsuitable for children or a stroller; dog rules for the whole outing are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Dmitrov Kremlin and Peremilovskaya Heights in Yakhroma require separate town detours from the canal ride. The organizer’s guide was written with museum staff, but museum visits and the climb to the memorial are additional: allow more time and check access.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The Moscow passages can be entered via the walking approach to the aqueduct from VDNKh metro or Rostokino MCC. For the developed canal section, the organizer describes Savyolovsky suburban trains via Yakhroma, Dmitrov, Meldino and Bolshaya Volga. Check bicycle carriage and the chosen daily exit. Return from the Dubna end may require a seasonal ferry across to the Bolshaya Volga side; confirm its operation separately.
By car
For the northern outing, the organizer lists 2 Zarechnaya Street in Yakhroma and Staro-Rogachyovskaya Street in Dmitrov as road approaches. These access the developed canal section and do not authorize driving along the cycleway. A meeting arrangement on the Konakovo extension is unconfirmed.
Parking
The organizer confirms visitor car parks at the Yakhroma and Dmitrov comfort stations. Check current arrangements and storage for the required duration. No verified parking scheme is available for the Moscow start or Konakovo end.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Urban streets require careful crossings and willingness to dismount. Compacted granite chippings on the open canal section differ from asphalt; allow braking space and keep clear of the water’s edge. The canal route lacks lighting. The key limitation is unconfirmed opening of Dubna–Konakovo: a mapped line does not replace an organizer’s access notice. Travel between Moscow and Yakhroma separately rather than cutting directly through unfamiliar ground.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 9–12 h
With stops | 13–18 h Allow 3–4 days for all selected parts: one for Moscow passages, a second for a separately started canal ride from Yakhroma, and a third for the available northern continuation. Keep day four for longer stops or another city day. Until opening towards Konakovo is verified, shorten the northern plan to Dubna. Travel between Moscow and Yakhroma, ferry use and the journey from the chosen finish are additional; no connecting cycling day between these parts is supplied.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry, snow-free cycling days. The canal bank is exposed to wind, so carry another layer in cool weather. If returning by ferry, confirm its season; in autumn, allow for early darkness and reduced service hours.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
A bicycle with tyres suitable for compacted granite chippings, helmet and reliable brakes.
Tube, pump, tools and front and rear lights.
Water, food, windproof layer, rain protection and saved daily route and return arrangements.
