Route description

This running option from Chastsovskaya to Zvenigorod station follows the woodland side of the Moscow countryside. The Ostrovnya becomes the main reference in the middle section, meeting the route several times north of Belozyorovo. Near the finish comes the Nakhavnya, after which forest and village passages give way to streets beside the station. Zvenigorod serves as the final railway point here. Its historic centre and monastery require a separate walk. The main appeal is the quieter river hollows between two different stations. Check passage at the gates on the Belozyorovo and Shikhovo sides before travelling; the older woodland option is not automatically open.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Spend a day in the woods without returning along the same road. The Ostrovnya shapes the main section, while the Nakhavnya provides a final river encounter before the train. This suits an independently planned run with small-river pauses, exploring the countryside outside Zvenigorod’s usual town itinerary.

Nearby

For a separate town extension, choose Zvenigorod’s historic centre or Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery; this option does not reach either. The Ostrovnya and Nakhavnya are not verified drinking sources or equipped swimming places. Other outings through Sima and the Setun follow different routes: the principal river reference here is the Ostrovnya.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Arrive at Chastsovskaya railway stop and use a permitted exit towards the northern starting side, requiring a separate approach. The finish lies beside Zvenigorod station, near its bus stop. Reach the correct return platform using the current designated crossing. Check that your chosen trains stop at both stations and confirm available exits before travelling.
By car
Arrange a drop-off near Chastsovskaya and collection on an accessible side of Zvenigorod’s station area. A car left at the start requires a separate return. Do not assume vehicle support through the woodland, or use private and allotment entrances as alternative roads.
Parking
A parking area is mapped on the south side of Zvenigorod station. Check permitted use, charges and the allowed parking duration before collecting the group; space availability is unconfirmed. Starting-side parking at Chastsovskaya has not been separately verified. Keep the bus area, railway approach and private entrances clear.

What to expect

Places

Nakhavnya before Zvenigorod Station an open watercourse on the approach to the finishing side.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 330 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 19%, Improved surface 6%, Concrete 1%, Unknown 74%.
Риски Check permitted passage at gates on the Belozyorovo and Shikhovo sides. An older woodland road does not establish an open entrance; if access is closed, use a separately prepared lawful exit without climbing fences. Rain can make Ostrovnya hollows wet and dirt connections slippery. Inspect small crossings locally rather than substituting an improvised ford. Take care around vehicles on the final streets and cross the railway only at designated places.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 3 h 42 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow an independent daytime outing with time for forest junctions, Ostrovnya pauses and the return train. No verified overall completion time exists. If gate access cannot be confirmed, revise the chosen section and return transport beforehand. A visit to central Zvenigorod requires additional time and a separate approach.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry, cool weather suits the combination of woodland and river hollows. Prolonged rain leaves wet ground, while spring calls for separate water checks at crossings. Allow enough daylight in autumn. Winter snow and ice change path conditions, so previous summer access offers no guarantee.
