Route description

Leave the station area of Opalikha westwards for woodland paths and small watercourses. Voronoy Brod comes first, followed by the Lipka; between them and farther along, woods alternate with clearings and road sections. This is an opportunity to replace urban running with more attentive movement over natural ground, slowing near water and at junctions. A southern detour returns along familiar ground before the route turns towards Nakhabino and finishes near its station. That makes a run between two railway stops possible with advance planning. Check a permitted way out of Opalikha into the woods before travelling: private gates are mapped near the older approach. If no open passage is available, select another accessible entry and revise the plan beforehand.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Train in the woods between Opalikha and Nakhabino while passing two small stream valleys. Returning along the southern branch helps you learn the terrain, and finishing at another station gives the outing a sense of progression. Walk instead if you prefer to pause more often beside the streams.

Nearby

St Nicholas Church and the Nikolo-Uryupino estate belong to a different sightseeing itinerary and are outside this variant. The memorial to the early GIRD launches near Nakhabino also needs its own approach and access check. It should not be substituted for the southern woodland branch. Estate interiors and passage through restricted grounds are not included.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Opalikha and Nakhabino stations on MCD-2 serve the two ends. Check trains and the station exits you need for your travel date. At Opalikha, establish a separate permitted approach to the woodland; the older passage beside private gates is not automatically available. At Nakhabino, use designated access to the platforms after finishing.
By car
Arrange a drop-off in Opalikha’s station area using accessible town streets. Continue through the forest on foot or running. As the finish is in Nakhabino, plan a rail journey back between the stations or arrange collection. Do not plan to drive along pedestrian woodland paths.
Parking
A paid park-and-ride area is mapped beside Nakhabino station. Confirm fees, opening times and available spaces before travelling. If leaving your car there, reach the Opalikha start separately first. Parking immediately beside the original woodland entry at Opalikha is unconfirmed.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 201 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 19%, Dirt 16%, Artificial surface 11%, Unknown 39%.
Риски Wet soil, roots and uneven wheel ruts can slow woodland running; reduce speed beside the streams. Current crossing conditions are unconfirmed. Private gates near the start make a checked public approach essential, avoiding closed property. Watch for vehicles on road sections. The southern detour includes a return, so identify the turn towards Nakhabino beforehand.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 14 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Use your own running pace and present ground conditions to plan the session. A verified duration for this particular outing is not established. The southern branch includes returning to the main road, and the final approach to the train also needs time. Start with sufficient daylight; allow longer if walking throughout.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose relatively dry forest ground and a day without heavy rain. Muddy periods can substantially slow progress. Finish the wooded portion before dark in autumn. In winter, check snow and ice on the approaches; maintenance of the entire line as a prepared running or skiing trail is unconfirmed.
