Route description

From Povarovo, this running passage stretches west towards the Chermet bend, then turns south and reaches Istra’s railway side. The main discovery within the woodland section is Polevshchinsky Forest: the passage actually enters two parts of the officially named sanctuary. Coniferous and mixed woodland is conserved here within the Istra Reservoir and small Vinka catchments. The day begins as a woodland journey and finishes with the changed atmosphere of urban Istra. The combination of a natural forest complex and a railway ending gives the outing its appeal. The author publishes a running version through Chermet; check ground, access boundaries and platform approaches before travelling.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Preparation for prolonged woodland running and independent provision are needed. Conditions for children, dogs and bicycles are separately unconfirmed. Do not plan the complete woodland passage with a stroller; continuous mobile reception has not been checked.

Nearby

New Jerusalem Monastery is connected with the Russian Palestine concept, but reaching its entrance needs a separate deviation: this passage does not enter it. The New Jerusalem museum can also be chosen as a separate continuation after the woodland outing. Istra Reservoir forms part of the sanctuary’s natural setting; a specific beach, swimming or holiday-base visit is unconfirmed here. Do not combine the old Novoyerusalimskaya ending with this version’s Istra railway ending.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Choose a train to Povarovo I on the Leningrad railway side. A separate approach leads from the required platform to the start. After finishing on Istra’s side, also follow the appropriate approach to Istra’s platform and use your chosen Riga-direction train. Check current calls and the return timetable; Povarovka and Novoyerusalimskaya belong to other travel arrangements.
By car
Arrange a vehicle meeting separately at the starting or finishing railway side after choosing an authorised location. If leaving a car in Povarovo, agree the return from Istra beforehand. Driving along the woodland section or reaching the former club rest place by private car is unconfirmed.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Ask whether you may leave a car at the selected railway ending for the outing. A station does not establish a permitted vehicle location. The monastery’s parking belongs to a separate New Jerusalem visit and does not establish parking for this route.

Difficult sections and safety

Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 390 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 42%, Dirt / grass 13%, Improved surface 4%, Unknown 34%.
Риски In the woodland section after rain, assess damp ground, ruts and whether running can continue. At the Chermet bend, check the southern continuation rather than entering another archived version. Within the sanctuary, keep to existing roads and paths and check current access conditions. Use current authorised road and railway crossings; a previous publication does not establish their condition today.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 6 h 36 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Complete duration with rail travel and pauses is unconfirmed. Plan a daylight outing with reserves for woodland ground, a sanctuary pause and both platform approaches. Choose the return train against your own usual prolonged woodland-running pace, allowing for changed conditions. A New Jerusalem visit needs separate time and an additional approach.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Reliable seasonal passage dates are unconfirmed. Choose an outing after checking woodland ground and current Polevshchinsky Forest access. Rain and thaw can change hollows and ruts. Archived club outings do not establish today’s ice, a prepared ski trail or the complete passage’s suitability for a winter walk.
