Route description

This substantial running plan around Zvenigorod links Shikhovo, Dyutkovo, the Ershovo woodland side and Surmino before returning to the station neighbourhood. It has an essential condition: the passage towards Dyutkovo and the return towards Shikhovo both use a railway bridge across the Moscow River. Permitted pedestrian passage there is unconfirmed. Plan the full circuit only after independently establishing a permitted river crossing; otherwise finish early. Walking along railway lines or sleepers cannot connect the portions. Once the crossing issue is resolved, the northern portion passes the exterior of Sergei Taneyev’s house museum in Dyutkovo, then follows woodland paths towards Korallovo and Surmino. The Nativity of the Virgin Chapel stands beside the Korallovo continuation, while the Razvarnya River appears near Surmino. The returning woodland side meets Gribkovsky Ravine Stream and the Storozhka River again. A later visit beside Shikhovo’s railway side reaches Ostrovnya Stream, with Nakhavnya Stream appearing before the station finish. This is a substantial independent running day through changing places, with passage arrangements needing attention before departure.

For experienced runners with endurance, independent navigation and verified permitted crossings. The railway bridge is not a confirmed pedestrian passage. Arrival by train establishes access to the departure neighbourhood, without proving safety or continuous access around the full circuit. The full plan is unsuitable for children or strollers; other accompaniment conditions remain unestablished throughout.

Nearby

Taneyev Museum displays, concerts and guided visits need separate time, tickets and schedule checks; the exterior passage does not include those events. Korallovo estate grounds are associated with an active boarding school, so do not assume unrestricted entry during the run. Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, the Zvenigorod Museum Reserve and other town sights require separate visits. Do not transfer places and rest stops from neighbouring shorter routes to this substantial northern option. Forest watercourses are not verified drinking-water supplies.

Without a car
The departure and finishing sides are near Zvenigorod station on the Belorussky direction. Use permitted pedestrian paths for the platform approach and the return train. Road-side stops at Dyutkovo, Korallovo, Surmino and Skokovo may help an early finish; verify present services and boarding sides before setting out. Dyudkovo, 183 km, 177 km and 192 km halts are separate railway points; their services and connections cannot replace a safe river crossing. There is no metro at the departure or finishing points.
By car
Arrange a lawful road-side drop-off at Zvenigorod station. Return to the same neighbourhood depends on a fully checked permitted continuation; an early finish requires a separate road-side collection point. Do not use northern woodland clearings or railway service roads for support vehicles. Check entry to museum, estate and private grounds separately with the owner.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Establish lawful parking conditions near Zvenigorod station and a backup road-side meeting place for an early finish. Keep cars away from the railway bridge, gates, crossings and woodland entrances. Access to the station neighbourhood does not establish permission for longer parking.

Риски Both Moscow River passages use the Greater Moscow Ring railway bridge. A permitted pedestrian passage along it is unconfirmed: do not enter the bridge, railway lines or sleepers. You need a separately verified permitted crossing, which changes the independent plan, or an early finish. A continuous complete circuit is unconfirmed without that arrangement. The woodland connection between the Ershovo skiing side and Dyutkovo is overgrown and difficult to navigate; do not follow the historic advice to bypass it along the railway. Do not use prepared winter ski lanes for running without permission. Use permitted pedestrian sides on road bridges and settlement streets, and only designated railway crossings. Wet low ground, roots and prolonged forest portions need stamina in reserve; do not bypass fences or enter closed private grounds.

The complete duration of this northern option is unestablished. Resolve the permitted crossing and early-finish arrangements first, then allow a substantial independent running day with spare daylight, rests and the journey home. The short later visit near Shikhovo remains part of this particular option; the author’s former rest stop does not establish present services or fire permission. A day-by-day plan is not established.

For a verified permitted continuation, choose dry snow-free ground and cool weather with a long daylight window. Overgrown woodland connections and wet low areas become harder after rain. Start early in autumn and expect roots hidden by leaves. The season does not resolve the railway bridge issue; winter river ice is also not a confirmed alternative crossing.
