Route description

The “To Mars” marathon has a thoroughly earthly setting: a long running day on country roads west of Zvenigorod, village churches and memorials, smaller rivers and the Moscow River at both ends of the journey. From Zvenigorod’s railway side, the route heads towards Lutsino. Walk briefly beside All Saints Church-Chapel before continuing through Anikovo to the suspension bridge at Karinskoye. The wooden crossing becomes a memorable part of the day, with the river below and the village continuation and Katyusha Memorial beyond it. The road then introduces Ulitino and Mikhailovskoye, heads towards Kryukovo and makes its western country loop before returning towards the water. Ponosha, Gnilusha and Yakovlevka give the prolonged journey a succession of distinct valleys and villages. The final rest belongs to the Moscow River’s north bank near Khrushchevo. The run ends before crossing to the opposite bank: visiting Mars village or reaching Teatralnaya railway halt needs an additional journey. Roads form a substantial part of the day, so check safe passage conditions and arrange your return from the river bank beforehand.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For prepared runners accustomed to long outings on roads and dirt ground. The full day and road traffic make it unsuitable as a children’s or stroller walk. Being able to cycle along individual country roads does not establish complete bicycle access. Return arrangements from the final bank, dog accompaniment and reception throughout require separate checks.

Nearby

The Museum of Oak and Museum of the Cat are on the high bank at Karinskoye. Arrange exhibition visits separately; a museum stop is not included in the running day. Mikhailovskoye’s church also needs a separate detour. The well-known bridge between Mars and Markovo lies farther along the river, distinct from both the Karinskoye crossing and this bank-side finish. In archived outings, participants continued towards Teatralnaya after their rest; separately check the crossings and entire additional approach to the correct platform if choosing that plan.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Take a train stopping at Zvenigorod station, then make a separate short approach to the road-side departure. The finish is on the Moscow River’s north bank near Khrushchevo, without a confirmed convenient station or bus-stop approach beside it. Arrange collection or independently research the return journey in advance. Older walk reports describe a subsequent continuation to Teatralnaya, adding a separate journey after this finish rather than an included station ending.
By car
Arrange the initial drop-off on Zvenigorod station’s road side. For collection after the run, use the accessible road side north of the finishing bank near Khrushchevo and approach the last portion on foot. Do not direct a car towards the water, along a narrow path or onto a pedestrian bridge. Departure and finish are different places; plan the return to a parked vehicle beforehand.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Check lawful drop-off arrangements at Zvenigorod station and collection conditions beside the road near the final bank separately. Keep local roads, gates, pedestrian approaches and bridge entrances clear.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 190 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 59%, Dirt / grass 7%, Compacted dirt 5%, Unknown 22%.
Риски Pay particular attention to vehicles on Lutsinskoye Highway and other country roads: a road does not imply a continuous sidewalk. Check a permitted safe passage for these connections before departure; use a separately established lawful alternative or finish early if none is available. Walk on Karinskoye Suspension Bridge, follow current restrictions and give way to other users; wooden decking and wind require care. Rain can soften dirt ground and the final riverbank approach. Slow down beside churches and remembrance places, and do not bypass fences on closed property. Do not add a final Moscow River crossing merely because of the marathon’s name: plan the return from the actual finishing bank.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 7 h 58 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The full independent completion time is unestablished. Keep a day free and allow daylight for the farther country portion, riverbank approach and collection after the run. Historic race results and group walks do not set today’s pace; former fires, food and support points are not confirmed current services. A day-by-day plan is not established. Shorten the outing before changed road conditions or fatigue leave you far from the arranged return.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A cool day, dry ground and ample daylight are the most convenient combination. Heat increases water needs on exposed roads, and rain complicates the final bank approach. In late autumn or winter, separately check slippery bridge decking, snow on dirt connections and collection access beside the final road. Former club race dates are not a present event schedule.
