Route description

The woodland walk from Firsanovskaya to Serednikovo brings together forest paths and the countryside of an old estate. Its opening leads through clearings and a river valley towards Shchepkino Boloto, a lake surrounded by trees. After crossing the Skhodnya and passing the lake, the route reaches Malino before returning to woodland. Farther south, the Goretovka crossing leads towards the village street beside St Alexius Church. The walk finishes near the entrance to Serednikovo, associated with Lermontov’s youth. You can add a separately arranged park visit or house tour if its opening times fit your day. This variant starts by the railway station and ends at the estate; the return journey is separate. Before setting out, establish the condition of the river footbridges and the permitted railway crossing at Malino.

Arrange Serednikovo’s park and house separately: the owner currently lists 150 roubles for the park and 600 roubles for an adult tour. The main courtyard and house require a guided visit. Two owner pages give different morning opening times, so confirm before travelling. The Devil’s Bridge, larch avenue, church spring and bathing chapel, and memorial branches need separate approaches. Current admission to the Piligrim Porto film set is unconfirmed.

Start near Firsanovskaya railway station. Select a train calling there using the current timetable and allow for the short approach to the walk. For a separate return from Serednikovo, the estate owner lists bus 40 from Mtsyri Sanatorium towards Firsanovskaya. Check services for your travel date. Malino is closed to passengers for reconstruction, so do not rely on boarding a train halfway through.
By car
For the full variant, drive to Firsanovskaya station and choose a permitted street drop-off. The finish is by Serednikovo, requiring a separate return to the vehicle. Driving directly to the estate gives a different outing or a walk in the opposite direction. The woodland clearings are not ordinary motor approaches.
Parking
The route author mentions parking beside a shop near the starting station, but current conditions and permission to stay for a long walk are unconfirmed. At the estate, its owner lists vehicle entry and parking for 400 roubles. That facility lies at the other end of the walk; confirm its hours and visitor conditions separately.

Check their condition and the present permitted railway crossing at closed Malino before travelling. If a safe crossing is unavailable, choose another outing or establish an authorised alternative beforehand. Do not cross railway lines outside a designated crossing or substitute an unfamiliar ford for a missing bridge.
