Route description

From the northern side of Bashkino, the walk leaves the railway surroundings for allotments and a wooded remnant of the Borovsky Tract. The old road becomes a place to explore on foot: village approaches give way to earth ruts, a wetland edge and the quiet field of Kuzminka. Chaynikovo shows the landscape around a source of the Istya, while the former village site offers a pause before the woodland continuation. The route towards Novaya Olkhovka suits a prepared walker curious about history outside museum walls. Older forest passages and a railway branch near the return need checking: a permitted connection on the latter section remains unconfirmed. Arrange a lawful bypass before an independent walk or choose a shorter visit to the places that interest you.

Nearby

Novaya Olkhovka’s Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist lies on a separate village approach and may complement the outing after access and visiting times are checked. Continuing the tract towards Mityaevo is another programme. This walk does not cover every historic place in Borovsk or establish camping permission or the drinkability of wetland water.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The railway arrival point is Bashkino on the Kiev line. Use a permitted exit towards the northern platform side, then a separate approach. The finish is beside Olkhovka village stop. The district administration has confirmed services between Novaya Olkhovka and Nara via Bashkino; check operating departures and your selected stop before travelling. Historical train and bus times are not current instructions.
By car
Arrange a drop-off on an accessible village road towards Bashkino and collection in Novaya Olkhovka. A car left at the start needs separate retrieval. Vehicle support along forest ruts is unconfirmed, and allotment approaches do not grant access through closed land. Keep the bus stop clear when collecting the group.
Parking
A parking area is mapped beside the Novaya Olkhovka finish. Visitor access, charges and permitted stay are unconfirmed. Start parking has not been checked. Establish the conditions before travelling and keep private entrances and public transport boarding areas clear.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 115 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 8%, Gravel 5%, Unknown 87%.
Риски Rain can make vehicle ruts and wet hollows slow to negotiate. Use a map on faint paths; older waymarks may have disappeared. There are industrial railway crossings and a former passage beside one branch: infrequent trains do not establish pedestrian permission. Find a lawful connection before travelling or shorten the programme. Use designated platform exits and avoid approaching water over unstable wetland ground.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 4 h 39 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The author gives 5–6 hours for the walking programme. Treat this as a historical estimate, with travel, pauses and a verified railway bypass added separately. A present complete duration is unestablished. Allow ample daylight and decide when to turn back if the woodland section proves impassable.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A dry late summer or early autumn offers better prospects for the woodland ruts. Reconsider wetland sections after prolonged rain or during spring thaw. Winter needs fresh checks of hidden ditches and unstable crossings; this option is not presented as a prepared ski trail.
