Route description

From Yubileyny, this ski course heads toward the forest side of Ershovsky Bay, linking city arrival with the winter space of Irkutsk Reservoir. Trees and woodland turns first lead to Bolshoy Ershovsky Bay. The course crosses the bay’s water area before climbing onto a wooded ridge. On the eastern side, the forest again gives way to the reservoir’s open surroundings. The return approaches the same city beginning from the bay. These changes make an engaging circuit for a confident skier: forest sections demand attention at junctions, while light, wind and the sense of space change outside the trees. Pause on accessible stable ground to appreciate the shape of the shores. The full circuit depends on current confirmation that access to every ice section is permitted and safe. If conditions remain unconfirmed, prepare a separate shore outing with its own plan. Crossing the bay cannot become a summer walk over water or an improvised detour beneath bank cliffs.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
City arrival at Yubileyny can be prepared without a car. The full ski circuit crosses Ershovsky Bay and the reservoir: safe and permitted ice access is presently unconfirmed. Plan it only after checking every water section and forest continuation. Confident braking, forest navigation and energy for the return are needed. A bicycle or stroller is unsuitable for this winter outing; dog rules and mobile coverage are unknown.

Nearby

Moon Clearing, Cape Zybun with its local name Crocodile, Melnichnaya Pad and Kartakoy Bay appear in other authors’ variants of this area. An exact visit to the clearing or cape tip is unconfirmed for this circuit; prepare additional visits separately. Arrival from the hydroelectric dam or Yakobi is another beginning and return option. Irkutsk Reservoir is inland, and this outing is outside the Khamar-Daban mountains. If the day needs shortening, choose an independently checked shore outing.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The beginning and return are on the Yubileyny microdistrict side of Irkutsk. A Yubileyny Microdistrict bus stop is confirmed near the starting area; check present services and the walking approach to the forest exit. Old advice about infrequent minibuses toward Green Shore does not establish a current service. Prepare arrival and return transport around the whole winter day. If ice access is unavailable, arrange a separate shore outing rather than forcing completion of the circuit.
By car
Prepare city road arrival at Yubileyny using present streets. Check a permitted ski drop-off and return location separately: nearby buildings do not establish available parking. Keep vehicles off forest ski sections and the reservoir. Snowmobile signs or cars on neighbouring roads do not establish permitted forest access or safe driving on ice.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. No place at the city beginning has been verified for leaving a car throughout the ski circuit. Agree permitted parking beforehand or arrive by city transport. Keep building entrances and the forest exit clear; a convenient verge is not a confirmed parking facility.

What to expect

Places
Bolshoy Ershovsky Bay the southern bay, where the forest ski course reaches the water area before its next climb.
Open Side of Irkutsk Reservoir the eastern part of the circuit, where trees give way to the open water area and winter shore. Present ice access and the full crossing need separate confirmation.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The full variant crosses water areas: a winter ski course is not a verified ice crossing. Before travelling, establish permitted ice access, shoreline conditions and the suitability of every water section. Defer the full circuit if access is prohibited, water is open, cracks are present or conditions are unconfirmed. Old photographs and ski reports do not show current ice strength; vehicle signs do not prove it either. Woodland junctions and descents toward the shore require braking and speed control. Check present forest and adjoining road conditions separately. Do not improvise a detour below collapsing banks, and do not transfer the ice passage to the snow-free season.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 4 h 18 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Confirm the entire ice passage and forest preparation first, then plan a daytime outing from Yubileyny and back. Divide time between the bay approach, the wooded ridge, the eastern reservoir side and return along the bay. Allow for navigation, pauses and the city approach. The original author’s personal time for an older variant does not establish a duration in present conditions. If a crossing is unconfirmed, prepare a separate permitted shore outing. Accommodation on the full circuit is unestablished.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Winter conditions with confirmed permitted and safe ice access throughout the chosen circuit. There is no fixed opening date: forest snow does not establish reservoir readiness, and thaws, wind and changing ice conditions can alter passage. Check present official information and local conditions before travelling. Do not use earlier seasons to assume safe access at the beginning or end of an ice season. A snow-free shore visit requires a separate course.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Skis, poles and boots suitable for present snow and woodland skiing; check bindings.
Clothing for movement and a dry warm layer for the exposed windy section, with hand, face and eye protection.
A thermos or drinking supplies protected from freezing, and food for the whole day: rentals and operating food stops are unconfirmed.
An offline map of shores and forest junctions with a prepared return, a phone and additional power.
A first-aid kit, spare gloves, a lamp for an unexpected delay and appropriate repair supplies.
Agree equipment and planning for a permitted ice outing with the specialist arranging it. Equipment does not replace confirmation of present conditions; share the return plan with someone.
