Route description

A ski day around Ershovsky Bay can alternate woodland and open water several times. This variant starts on the Yubileyny side, climbs and descends through the forest toward Bolshoy Ershovsky, then returns toward the city through the northern bay. Moon Clearing links approaches familiar to local skiers, while the Cape Zybun side, known as Krokodil, leads down toward the water again. There is more to the outing than a broad view. Each wooded climb reveals a different shore; the opposite side changes the direction of the slopes, while water sections offer a pause from forest junctions. The author’s variant combines three climbs and descents, alternating the bays with active skiing and attentive turns. The return ends closer to the Yubileyny bus stops than the forest beginning. The winter circuit includes water crossings. Choose the full outing only after present permitted safe ice access and usable shore exits are confirmed. In the snow-free season, its water sections do not become a continuous walking path.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
For different sides of one bay: the wooded approach from Yubileyny, slopes above Bolshoy Ershovsky and a more open return toward Maly Ershovsky. Three climbs give the day more variety than level shore skiing. Between them, notice the shape of the bays and how forested slopes meet the winter water area.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Yubileyny allows city arrival without a car. This ski outing combines several wooded climbs, descents and water crossings. With children, choose it only when the entire group has suitable skills, present permitted ice access is confirmed and the chosen section can be completed safely. Steep woodland descents can be unsuitable for beginners. A bicycle or stroller does not suit this winter variant; dog rules and mobile coverage are unknown.

Nearby

Melnichnaya Pad, Novogrudinina and more distant bays belong to longer outings; this variant does not continue there. Starting from the hydroelectric dam also requires separate access arrangements. Moon Clearing and the Krokodil side belong to the author’s circuit, but a separate visit to the cape tip is unconfirmed. Do not add it as a required stop without checking the approach. Rentals, heated premises and operating food places throughout the outing are unknown.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Prepare arrival through the Yubileyny Microdistrict bus stops in Irkutsk. Actual stop platforms are confirmed near the return side; check present services, intervals and the approach to the forest beginning beforehand. The start is south of the stops and the finish closer to them: arrange collection at the intended place rather than an arbitrary forest entrance. Intermediate public transport on the opposite shores has not been confirmed for this variant.
By car
For car arrival, choose permitted drop-off in Yubileyny and agree collection after the return. The forest beginning and finish are on the same city side but use different entrances. Vehicle use on woodland ways shared with skiers does not establish a through driving itinerary. Driving onto water areas and car support throughout the circuit are unconfirmed.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. No area has been verified for leaving a vehicle throughout the outing. Arrange permitted parking beforehand or use city buses. Keep forest approaches, building entrances and roads near garden communities clear; an empty roadside does not establish permitted vehicle storage.

What to expect

Places
Ershovsky Bay on the Winter Circuit — the main named water feature of the outing. Its larger southern and smaller northern sections offer different shores and woodland approaches. Check every required water crossing and shore exit before travelling.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Woodland descents require confident braking: a used way can have hard vehicle ruts, and a junction may follow a steep section. Slow down before access-road crossings and check traffic. Older descriptions of good skiing do not establish present preparation on every slope. Water sections require more than allowances for wind and drifting snow: check present permitted access, cracks, shore edges and a usable return to land. Defer the full circuit if any necessary crossing remains unconfirmed. An older alternative around a woodland climb is not automatically a ready replacement; assess its present passage separately.

How much time to allow

Расчётное время в пути 3 h 49 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Allow time for city access, every wooded climb, checking junctions and returning from the bay. One experienced author’s pace does not establish a general group duration. Match the chosen outing to descent skills and remaining daylight rather than proximity to the city alone. Arrange collection near the Yubileyny finish. A heated intermediate stop and accommodation on the circuit are unconfirmed.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Winter, with sufficient snow on forest slopes and confirmed permitted safe ice access and usable shore exits for every chosen crossing. Early usability of a woodland section does not establish readiness across the bay. Review the outing during thaws, strong wind, new drifting snow or unknown ice conditions using present official information. Choose a separately checked land outing for summer.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Skis, bindings, boots and poles suited to present snow and woodland descents.
A warm spare layer, wind protection and gloves for pauses.
Drinking supplies and food for the entire chosen outing; operating food stops are unconfirmed.
An offline map of woodland junctions and shore exits, a charged phone and additional power.
A first-aid kit, lamp and suitable equipment repair items.
For an agreed ice outing, select equipment with the specialist arranging it. Supplies do not replace checking present conditions and permitted passage.
