Route description

This ski traverse links Orlyonok with the city side of Irkutsk Reservoir through Dabat’s woodland ways and Kurminsky Bay. Bolshaya Olkha marks the beginning before the outing enters the Olkha Plateau forest. Wooded slopes give way to Dabat Valley, the lower Kurma area and finally open water. The changing places create a continuous journey from a forest railway beginning toward the bays near Irkutsk. A substantial water continuation remains after Kurminsky Bay. The city approaches gradually and the outing ends on the water side of Yakobi. Arrange a shore exit and the approach to bus stops beforehand: nearby buildings and a road do not themselves complete the ski traverse. Keep energy for both the far forest and the exposed section beyond it. Part of the woodland course enters Pribaikalsky National Park. Prepare the complete winter outing only after agreeing present park passage, obtaining a visitor permit and confirming permitted safe access along the entire water continuation and its shore exit. Do not undertake the water section during freeze formation.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
For a substantial change of landscape in one direction: Bolshaya Olkha near Orlyonok, wooded Dabat Valley, Kurma and the broad reservoir approach. Kurminsky Bay provides a particularly clear transition from the forest journey to open space. This is an idea for prepared skiers interested in travelling from the plateau toward city water, with conditions confirmed throughout beforehand.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Rail arrival is available geographically at Orlyonok and actual bus stops lie on the city side of the ending. However, the full outing requires a prepared permitted platform approach, agreement for the park section, every water crossing and the Yakobi shore exit. This is a very substantial independent skiing day for an experienced prepared group rather than a family city circuit. A bicycle or stroller is unsuitable for the full winter water section. Dog rules and reliable mobile coverage are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Shinikhta and Bolshaya Kheya belong to other forest-exit variants rather than confirmed reserve continuations here. Medvezhata, Zerkala, Petrovich base and Marituy require their own branches. Buildings around Dabat do not confirm an operating tourist base, food or a heated group shelter. A separate city walk near Yakobi can follow a permitted shore exit, but visiting Irkutsk Hydroelectric Station facilities is outside this traverse. Rentals, intermediate transfers and operating rest facilities throughout the outing are unconfirmed.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Prepare suburban train arrival at Orlyonok halt. Check present services and permitted equipped platform access toward the forest beforehand: active rails at the beginning must be crossed only at the intended crossing. On the city side after Yakobi, use the actual Hydroelectric Station Administration bus stops as an arrival reference, but arrange the shore exit and walking approach separately before travelling. Check current bus services and late return arrangements. Intermediate public transport in the far woodland section is unconfirmed.
By car
Arrange drop-off at Orlyonok and collection on the city side of Yakobi separately. Check access to the railway beginning, a permitted meeting place and the entire shore exit beforehand. Forest roads and vehicle signs in an old account do not establish permitted through vehicle support, especially inside the park. Do not rely on driving onto ice or help from passing anglers to finish the outing.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. No pair of areas has been verified for initial arrival and final collection; returning to a car left at Orlyonok also requires separate arrangements. Agree vehicle storage beforehand or prepare arrival by train. A city beach, woodland road or platform approach does not automatically establish permitted parking.

What to expect

Places
Bolshaya Olkha at the Beginning the river valley near Orlyonok before the far forest continuation.
Dabat Valley the named river on the eastern side of the forest traverse, descending toward lower ground.
Kurma before the Reservoir the river section between Dabat and the bay approach.
Kurminsky Bay the flooded lower Kurma valley and the beginning of the substantial water continuation.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски First establish presently equipped access at Orlyonok and usable crossings of the initial Olkha. Woodland junctions, way conditions and remoteness then become the main challenges. Ruts, deep snow and fallen trees can change the usability of the entire continuation; a park permit does not replace agreement for selected ways and zones. Preserve energy after the Dabat descent: substantial exposed water remains, with wind and drifting snow. Vehicle marks on ice do not establish permitted safe passage. Defer the full traverse if restrictions, open water, cracks or unknown conditions affect any necessary section. Confirmation at Kurminsky Bay does not cover the whole continuation to Yakobi. Establish a usable present shore exit beforehand rather than searching for one late in the day.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 10 h 56 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Prepare a very substantial independent skiing day with early arrival and an agreed finish. Assess the forest to Dabat, the lower continuation toward Kurma and the entire water section to Yakobi separately. Decide about the exposed continuation before entering it, keeping daylight, warmth and energy in reserve. A passing vehicle is not a planned exit. Present intermediate accommodation and a universal full-course duration are unconfirmed; choose a different prepared outing if conditions are unsuitable.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A winter idea for a prepared group, with sufficient snow, agreed present park passage and confirmed permitted safe water sections. Autumn freeze formation and spring ice breakup are unsuitable for the full outing. EMERCOM specifically identifies Yakobi among dangerous city bays during freeze formation. Dates from an older author’s outing do not establish a new season’s opening. A warm-season bicycle variant uses a different way and separate river crossings; this entire water course does not become a summer cycle traverse.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Skis and bindings suited to distant woodland and present snow, with repair supplies for an independent outing.
Wind protection for open water, dry warm clothing for pauses and spare gloves.
Drinking supplies protected from freezing and food for the entire substantial day. Do not use city bay water for drinking.
An offline map of forest junctions and agreed shore exits, a charged phone and additional power.
A first-aid kit, lamp and sufficient lighting for a delay.
Save the park permit and agreed passage before leaving. Choose equipment for an organised permitted ice section with a specialist; equipment does not replace checking access, conditions and the final shore exit.
