Route description

This collection brings together different Great Baikal Trail coastal directions. Its southern section leads from Listvyanka’s wooded side through Bolshiye Koty and Kadilnaya to Bolshoye Goloustnoye. Other independent passages explore the Buguldeyka, Khargino and Peschanaya Bay sides; separate woodland alternatives and a continuation beyond northern Goloustnoye are also present. Select independent hikes: a continuous complete through-passage and every connection are unconfirmed. On 12 October 2026, reopening of the Great Baikal Trail and Cormorant Stone–Buguldeyka direction following their bear-related closure on 4 September is unconfirmed. Establish admission to the chosen section, access and authorised overnight places before planning travel.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
After reopening, choose a coast with its own character: Bolshiye Koty memorials, Malaya Kadilnaya valley, Babushka Bay’s sand or Peschanaya’s exposed tree roots. The northern Akademik Shokalsky memorial recalls how seriously wind and water must be treated on Baikal.

Accommodation, visitor centres and boat excursions require separate bookings. The lost Deer pine is not claimed as a surviving Peschanaya attraction.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The park confirms lower public approaches to western-coast settlements including Listvyanka and Bolshoye Goloustnoye. Exact drop-off and return arrangements for distant northern sections are unconfirmed: establish chosen boat services, safe landing and agreed approaches independently. A regular service does not automatically connect these passages.
By car
The Baikal road serves Listvyanka, the Goloustnoye road serves Goloustnoye and a separate turn off the Yelantsy road serves Buguldeyka. These are independent lower approaches. Agree authorised drop-off and collection for the selected coastal section; through vehicle access to Peschanaya Bay and every woodland alternative is unconfirmed.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Agree vehicle storage for a multi-day outing at the selected lower approach. Distant lakeside tent places are not confirmed vehicle parking.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Check unestablished connections and admission to woodland alternatives beforehand. Shores include unstable slopes, narrow passages, large wet stones and fallen trees; storms can block waterside passage. Check current stairway and bridge conditions. Exposed-root trees are vulnerable: stay outside barriers and avoid sitting or stepping on roots. Bear-related restrictions determine admission as well as trail precautions.

How much time to allow

A day-by-day plan is not established. These are multi-day outings; the complete duration of all separate directions is unconfirmed. Select one authorised passage and agree daily sections, overnight places and final transport independently. The standard schemes for the separate southern and northern sections do not combine into a confirmed complete hike.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
After reopening, choose snow-free conditions with calm weather and confirmed approaches. Summer allows agreed tent stays; autumn needs allowance for short daylight, cold and ice. A winter bay excursion by specialised vessel does not establish walking access along the complete coastal system. Ending fire restrictions does not establish removal of the bear-related closure.
