Route description

From the southern side of Bolshoye Goloustnoye, this walking version follows Baikal towards Kadilnaya, Skriper, Bolshiye Koty and Syty Cape. Coastal projections alternate with wooded valleys, and the way moves between stony shoreline and cliffs above the water. The longer journey is intended to end in Listvyanka, but complete present passage is unestablished. Confirm permitted connections, rock sections and an authorised village exit before preparing it. Malaya Kadilnaya, the Chayachy cliffs and Skriper’s viewing side provide the most striking scenes. Skriper offers an elevated Baikal view, while Bolshiye Koty changes the landscape to a village shore. Beyond it come Chyornaya, Solontsovaya, Smorodovaya and Emelyanikha valleys. These smaller valleys reveal how woodland reaches the water and changes beyond each cape. The difference becomes clear towards Listvyanka: the lower route stays beside the lake longer and turns inland towards the divide only at Syty. Confident movement on rocky shoreline is required. Beyond the cape, a path is mapped with pedestrian access prohibited; the village ending also encounters a private road and gates. Do not repeat these places without confirmed admission. Prepare a separately authorised connection and exit or finish earlier. National park permission does not itself open restricted property.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
For the combination of Malaya Kadilnaya’s narrow valley, the cliff-side passage at Chayachy, Skriper’s viewing point and quieter valleys near Bolshiye Koty. The route offers Baikal both beside stony shoreline and from above. These sights remain worthwhile on a separately permitted stage if the present rocky ending towards Listvyanka cannot be completed.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For prepared walkers confident on narrow paths above water, scree and rock steps with a hiking pack. This shore alternative is unsuitable as an easy maintained Great Baikal Trail outing. It is unsuitable for children and people inexperienced on exposed steep ground. With a dog, independently consider loose stones, cliff edges and national park rules. Full pedestrian admission, continuous reception and a quick reserve exit are unestablished.

Nearby

Sukhoye Lake, the Goloustnoye church and separate mountain walks near Bolshoye Goloustnoye are outside the selected southern shore beginning. Prepare them independently. Cave objects exist in Malaya Kadilnaya, but cave approaches and entry are excluded from this version. Kadilnaya’s limestone outcrops and old lime-kiln remains require a separately confirmed inspection approach. Near Bolshiye Koty, the lake-studies museum, Sennaya’s former workings and Grebeshok need separate approaches and access checks. The M. M. Kozhov memorial also lies off the selected immediate passage; museum entry is not promised. Listvyanka’s Road to the Sun project includes Uranus, Saturn, its moons and Comet models; other astronomy artworks are also mapped nearby. These belong to the ending beyond the problematic coastal connection. Agree scientific-site access independently: this version does not guarantee admission, a guided visit, working installations or telescope access. The Baikal Museum, Chersky Stone, Shaman Rock and Port Baikal are outside this crossing. Prepare separate Listvyanka sightseeing, allowing time for an authorised shore exit and departure.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Public transport to the exact beginning and return services on your travel dates require separate confirmation. Bolshoye Goloustnoye and Listvyanka are different travel-arrangement sides; prepare the village approach to Goloustnoye’s southern start beforehand. After reaching Listvyanka on foot, an additional approach to your departure point is necessary. Plan a water departure from Bolshiye Koty only after confirming a specific service, weather and boarding arrangement. Such a service does not replace an independently prepared exit from a separate coastal stage.
By car
Arrange Bolshoye Goloustnoye-side delivery via the Goloustnoye road, and Listvyanka-side delivery via the Baikal road. Confirm current road conditions and the selected vehicle-storage place independently. The coastal walking path through Kadilnaya and Bolshiye Koty is unverified as a vehicle connection between the two villages. Agree collection at a permitted land-accessible place after your selected stage. The private road and gates in the village ending do not establish free vehicle entry or a collection point.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. On Bolshoye Goloustnoye’s southern side, agree lawful storage and subsequent vehicle access with the receiving party. Tent places, piers and ranger posts do not establish car parking. For Listvyanka collection, select an independently accessible place outside private gates and restricted property.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 942 м.
SurfaceDirt 7%, Improved surface 2%, Asphalt 1%, Unknown 89%.
Риски Near Malaya Kadilnaya, the shore passes scree slopes and wave-exposed ground. Chayachy Cliff and Sobolev include narrow places above water, drops and unstable fragments. The exposed shore between Smorodovaya and neighbouring valleys is also affected by wind, snow and ice. Avoid continuing beside cliff-bound water in a storm, icing or path damage. From Syty, this version uses the lower rocky alternative rather than the usual main Great Baikal Trail entrance. Beyond the cape, pedestrian access is mapped as prohibited; later Listvyanka also includes a private road and gates. Admission and a safe complete connection are unconfirmed. Arrange a separate authorised exit or finish early; avoid bypassing closures, fences and gates. Independently check continuity at other coastal connections. A historical passage does not establish current bridges, steps or a usable bypass. Obtain national park permission for the selected area, check current closures and agree tent places. A mapped campsite name does not guarantee authorised overnight use, water or operating facilities. Remove food waste and keep away from wild animals.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 14 h 44 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The duration of this exact shore version and a prepared daily plan are unestablished. Calculate the multi-day journey after checking stage connections and selecting an authorised ending. Main Great Baikal Trail timings or the separate Listvyanka–Bolshiye Koty walk do not establish time for the lower rocky section. Agree overnight places and water on your selected stretch, allow for poor weather and prepare an independent return. Stop at Skriper and other rocks only where observation is safe. Register the journey with EMERCOM and agree check-in messages.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Warmer conditions without snow or shore icing, after checking scree and rock sections, wave forecasts and current park restrictions. Autumn brings shorter daylight, wet stones and early freezing. Spring snow and ice can remain in shaded places. A winter repeat of this version is unverified; lake ice does not provide an automatically safe connection. Choose another independently prepared permitted journey when the rocky shore or authorised exit is unavailable.
