Route description

From Khankhiltuy, the coastal route gradually returns to Buguldeyka’s road side. The beginning retains the character of a remote lakeside stage, where small channels provide distinct natural landmarks. Otta, Kurkera, the northern Shumikha and Kurta help distinguish individual coastal sections before the village approach. Choose suitable shore stops to observe the meeting of wooded slopes and Baikal. Streams do not establish drinking-water sources or easy crossings. Near the ending, the lake side gives way to an approach beside the Buguldeyka River. Finish near the road bridge and arrange collection and departure independently. This is an exit from a former coastal overnight halt towards the settlement rather than a tour of every Buguldeyka attraction. The initial halt does not establish an operating camp, while the marble quarry and viewing hills need separate approaches. Prepare complete authorised passage, channel connections and return beforehand; choose a separately agreed section or finish early if a connection is unconfirmed.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For prepared walkers able to cover an independent coastal stage and establish safe channel connections. The complete line is unsuitable as a short family village walk. Cycling and stroller travel are outside the full version’s plan. Dog admission, drinking water and reliable coastal reception are independently unestablished. Participants need delay reserves and a prepared early exit.

Nearby

The park lists summer tent locations along the coast near Otta, Shumikha, Kurta and Buguldeyka. Bring your own equipment and agree an authorised pitch. A camp labelled Otta Mouth does not pinpoint the channel itself: distinguish natural landmarks from rest locations. Buguldeyka’s marble quarry is a separate park route with its own start and valley lookout. Quarry, pit and viewing-point visits are outside this exit. The village’s viewing hills are also separate; avoid adding them without sufficient time reserves. For park visiting questions, check reception at the Buguldeyka visitor centre at14GagarinaStreet. It is separate from the precise ending; confirm current opening days and the required service beforehand. Agree accommodation, meals, operating shops and onward travel for your dates. A nearby mapped guesthouse does not provide included accommodation. Old descriptions of reception, prices and driving times do not replace present checks.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular public transport to the Khankhiltuy start and a currently operating service directly from the northern ending are unconfirmed. Agree your southern approach and departure from Buguldeyka for the relevant dates. The finishing road bridge does not establish a boarding place. Choose collection, a permitted waiting location and procedures for delay beforehand.
By car
Arrange collection in Buguldeyka after the crossing. Published settlement access passes through Bayanday and the Kosaya Step or Petrovo directions; independently check current road condition and the precise meeting place. Ordinary-car access to the southern Khankhiltuy start is unconfirmed. Driving to the village does not resolve starting delivery, and the coastal walking path is unsuitable for attempts to drive beside the water.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Ask where vehicle storage and group waiting are permitted after arrival in Buguldeyka. The bridge, river channel and former southern camp do not establish parking permission. Prepare an independent return to your chosen location.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 218 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 18%, Unknown 82%.
Риски Coastal surfaces change, and the trail runs beside uneven slopes in places. Wet stones, roots, loose ground, fallen trees and waves affect passage decisions. Avoid wading around coastal obstructions and unfamiliar steep shortcuts. Establish a safe authorised connection at every channel beforehand. A named stream or camp does not establish a bridge, convenient ford or constant water level. Choose an independently agreed safe section or finish early if complete passage is unconfirmed. Carry drinking water separately; channel cleanliness and permanent flow are unestablished. The northern ending lies near a road bridge. Check its condition and a permitted safe walking side before using it; a prepared pedestrian section is independently unconfirmed. Avoid replacing an agreed road connection with a river wade. Check current coastal direction status, obtain park permission and agree check-in messages. Use agreed camping locations without creating new pitches, and remove all rubbish. Confirm village reception, food and departure beforehand.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 10 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The exact duration of this one-day coastal stage is unestablished. Calculate the Khankhiltuy approach, travel between named channels, shore stops, crossings, Buguldeyka riverside approach and roadside collection separately. A longer Peschanaya route with several nights does not establish this version’s duration. Allow daylight reserves and agree check-in timing. If an overnight stop is needed, arrange it independently: the park publishes summer tent locations along this coastal direction, without guaranteed availability, supplied equipment or accommodation.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Snow-free conditions with a usable coastal path, settled Baikal weather and prepared stream connections. Rain changes channels and stones, while wind and waves can interrupt the plan. Winter visits to other bays by specialised vessels do not establish an ice repeat of this walking stage. Fixed present safe dates for complete passage are unestablished; check park admission and return conditions before travelling.
