Route description

This option approaches Bronenosets along the ridge west of the Artemyeva valley. It starts in Arshan, crosses the Second Shikhtolayka during the forest approach and gains height on the southern side of the mountain. Above the trees, the character changes as the rocky ridge and summit come into focus. In clear conditions, Bronenosets offers views towards neighbouring mountains and the Tunkinskaya Valley. The ascent’s appeal also lies in the whole sequence, from woodland to attentive movement over rock. It suits an experienced mountain group for whom preparing the route is part of the journey. After the summit, this version includes a separate descent towards a former forest bivouac site. Arrange the onward return to the village independently. The author’s outing included an overnight stay; agree a present permitted overnight location before departure so that time in the mountains follows a prepared plan.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Mountain ascent experience, movement over rock and a separate assessment of protection are needed. The author describes a rock tooth and steep ridge approach; their historical choice without external belay is not a recommendation for current conditions. The Second Shikhtolayka gully descent is avalanche-prone when snowy. Clarify the summit-area connection, complete permitted passage and village return before planning. Agree overnight arrangements with the national park and obtain permission; an old bivouac does not establish unrestricted camping.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 6 h 32 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A day-by-day plan for the multi-day outing is not established. The author’s approach with an overnight stay and subsequent ascent/descent occurred on different days, establishing the historical outing’s character rather than a current schedule. Plan approach, agreed overnight location, technical ground, forest descent and onward return separately. Historical group timing does not establish your pace. Preserve a turn-back option if conditions deteriorate.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For a walking ascent, choose settled conditions after assessing the rock and chosen descent. Snow and ice require separate technical and avalanche plans. Favourable conditions in a November report do not establish access every November. Check national park restrictions before travel.
