Route description

From Solnechny Pass, the route descends into Bugatay valley and gradually returns towards Arshan. The upper beginning has a clear mountain character: grassy and scree slopes give way to a river valley, with woodland becoming more prominent below. Following Bugatay downstream offers a changing landscape while river conditions and path turns keep attention on the journey. Bukhota and Kyngarga appear in the lower section. After the valley passage, reaching Arshan’s streets feels like a distinct conclusion to the mountain outing. The route ends near a village bus-stop reference, useful for an onward journey arranged beforehand. Treat this as part of a prepared trip, with a separate approach to the pass. The author descended over two days; choose current overnight and return arrangements according to conditions. It suits an experienced group interested in the entire transition from the mountain beginning to the village.

Nearby

Descending to Tolta on the other side of Solnechny is a different option. Suburga, Bodhidharma Temple, Peak of Love and the First Kyngarga Waterfall are not included visits. Historical river camps do not establish present overnight permission or safe untreated water. Resort-park walks can be planned separately after completing the mountain outing.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Arshan Bus Ticket Office Stop is beside the lower finish. The resort confirms buses connecting the village with Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude; check current services and departure locations with the operator. These are onward connections after returning to the village. Public transport does not reach the Solnechny start, which needs a separate mountain approach.
By car
Direct driving access to the pass-side beginning is unconfirmed. Leave the car at an agreed road-accessible place in the overall itinerary and arrange how to return to it. After descending, organise any pickup at a permitted village location separately from the walking finish.
Parking
Verified parking at the upper beginning is unavailable. Ask the selected location’s owner whether leaving a vehicle in the village for the full outing is permitted. The bus stop at the finish does not establish parking for a private car.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 497 м.
SurfaceGravel 6%, Asphalt 3%, Unknown 91%.
Риски Mountain experience and independent navigation are required. The beginning involves pass terrain, followed by repeated water and riverbank crossings. Assess each crossing after rain without relying on guaranteed fords or bridges. Forest branches towards Suburga or Tagarkhay change the exit plan. Clarify the short connection between parts and the whole permitted passage, agree overnight arrangements and obtain national park permission. Winter pass conditions need a separate avalanche assessment.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 33 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A day-by-day plan for the multi-day outing is not established. The author recorded the descent on 18–19 August, but a current stage sequence and permitted overnight location are not independently confirmed. Add the mountain approach, crossing delays, weather reserve and onward transport time after Arshan. Historical timing for the pass itself does not describe the complete descent.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For walking, favour settled snow-free conditions after checking the pass-side beginning and rivers. Prolonged rain can change crossings substantially. Snow, ice and winter avalanche danger require another plan; the author’s August experience does not establish year-round access. Check park restrictions before departure.
