Route description

The Brest centennial brevet links the region’s western roads with a return through Vistychi and Zhabinka. Leaving Brest towards Vysokoye, the journey encounters the Pulva River before reaching the former Bonifrat monastery buildings at the town’s entrance from Volchin. This road-side introduction places Vysokoye within a wider journey; a thorough exploration of its palace park can become a separate visit. Kamenyuki brings the neighbouring Bialowieza Forest into the picture. Its internal visitor routes are a separate outing, while this road course continues towards the St Andrew church in Pashuki. Ostromechevo and Vistychi follow, with the historic Virgin Mary column standing beside the way. Crossings of the Lesnaya add river references to the sequence of small towns and villages. The final section returns through Zhabinka to Brest. Created for a centennial brevet, this variant offers a broad introduction to the region through its roads, historic places and forest surroundings. It is a demanding journey for a prepared cyclist. Confirm present permitted access through the border zone and restricted sections before setting off.

Nearby

Potocki Palace and the park in Vysokoye, Kamenets Tower, the church and estate park in Vistychi, and the forts around Brest are separate visits. Internal Bialowieza Forest routes and animal enclosures require their own permitted approach. Historic shop control points do not guarantee present food or water supplies. The Bonifrat buildings are an exterior reference here, without assurance of an active monastery or safe access inside the ruins. Legends about the column and a submerged sculpture are not established historical facts.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Brest Central is a confirmed railway reference for arriving in the city. Reaching the fuel-station start requires a separate urban approach; the station platform is not the brevet’s beginning. Check bicycle-carriage conditions and current trains when buying tickets. Allow a margin for delays before your departure after returning.
By car
The historic start and finish are beside Fuel Station No 17 at 20 Aviatsionny Lane. Check present signs and arrangements for a permitted drop-off. Using the station area as a starting reference does not establish permission to leave a vehicle there throughout the day. Arrange support or collection along the intermediate roads separately, accounting for the border-zone regime.
Parking
A present permitted parking place for the whole outing has not been independently confirmed. The former event’s announcement of parking near the suburban railway station does not guarantee a space today. Agree parking with the owner of the chosen site. Check the State Border Committee’s additional requirements for parking within the border zone.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 73%, Paving stones 2%, Gravel 2%, Unknown 18%.
Риски Endurance, independent bicycle repairs and attention around motor traffic are essential. Widely spaced references must not become shortcuts across fields. Service sections with restricted access occur near the exit from Vysokoye and north of Brest; permitted passage and connections for the full outing have not been independently established. Check lawful alternatives and railway crossings before departure. The course also encounters the border zone. For foreign visitors permanently residing outside Belarus, the State Border Committee requires a travel identity document and a border pass; separate rules apply to citizens and residents. Confirm the affected area and required access. The course does not provide an exit to Poland.

How much time to allow

Расчётное время в пути 18 h 59 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Verified route time is not established. Historically this was a one-day cycling brevet with a morning start and an evening finish closure. Its event regulations do not replace a personal plan for present roads. Allow for sightseeing, meals, repairs, permitted alternatives and weather. Dividing the journey over several days requires separate accommodation and stage planning.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose settled weather without snow or ice for an independent ride. The historic September event does not restrict the course to that date or establish year-round access. Account for wind, rain and daylight on exposed roads; working lights are essential after dusk. Check border documents and present access independently of the season.
