Route description

This broad cycling arc leaves Brest for the historic small towns and river valleys of western Belarus. In Chernavchitsy, Holy Trinity Church faces the road with a restrained facade and a separate bell tower, recalling the Radziwill era. Beyond Kamenets, the way continues through Shereshevo and forest sections of Bialowieza before reaching Porozovo and Volkovysk. Woodland and village roads alternate with town streets, changing the character of the journey along the way. The northern section crosses the Zelvyanka and Shchara, encounters Lipichanskaya Pushcha and reaches Dyatlovo. Its two-tower Assumption Church stands beside the road: a rewarding place to pause and notice the baroque architecture from outside. Beyond Novoyelnya and the Molchad River, the arc turns towards Gorodishche. Svityazyansky Reserve belongs to this part of the journey, although visiting Lake Svityaz itself requires a separate approach. Returning through Slonim brings another historic detail: the rounded apse of the Bernardine nuns’ church can be seen from the street. Lyskovo, the Yaselda crossing and Kobrin with the Mukhavets follow, before Zhabinka closes the way back to Brest. This variant suits an experienced cyclist interested in the Belarus between its better-known attractions. Plan it as an independent extended journey with agreed overnight accommodation and permitted access through protected and border areas.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Follow the changing landscapes from Brest towards Dyatlovo and Gorodishche, then return through Slonim. Three different church exteriors—the Trinity facade in Chernavchitsy, Dyatlovo’s towers and the Slonim Bernardine apse—connect the river valleys and small towns into a journey with a clear sense of place.

Nearby

Lake Svityaz, Kamenets Tower, the Ruzhany palace complex, Slonim museums and a detailed exploration of Lyskovo’s monastery are separate visits. Passing through a settlement does not automatically include every monument. Chernavchitsy, Dyatlovo and Slonim churches are described as exterior references; arrange entry and services separately. Internal Bialowieza visitor routes, animal enclosures and overnight stays are not included as freely available services. Former brevet control shops do not guarantee present food or water.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Brest Central provides a railway reference for arriving in the city. Reaching the fuel-station beginning on Aviatsionny Lane requires a separate urban approach. Check bicycle carriage, trains for your chosen date and a margin after returning when buying tickets. Intermediate departures from Dyatlovo, Gorodishche or Slonim have not been independently established within an overall plan.
By car
The starting road reference is Fuel Station No 17 at 20 Aviatsionny Lane in Brest. Check present signs and the owner’s arrangements for drop-off and access to the site. For collection along the northern section, choose a permitted place on a vehicle road in advance; a road through woodland or a reserve does not establish permission to drive onto any clearing. Arrange support and collection within the border zone separately.
Parking
Present parking has not been confirmed. Agree a place and the full period of leaving a vehicle with the owner before an extended outing. A fuel forecourt is not established as permitted multi-day parking. Check the State Border Committee’s additional requirements for the border zone.

Difficult sections and safety

SurfaceAsphalt 68%, Compacted dirt 5%, Paving stones 3%, Unknown 21%.
Риски Extended independent riding on vehicle roads requires endurance, bicycle repair skills and a reserve of lighting. Do not shorten road bends across fields, railways or closed grounds. This variant encounters Bialowieza National Park, Lipichanskaya Pushcha and Svityazyansky Reserve: confirm the specific permitted roads, visitor areas and overnight arrangements with the relevant administration. Present lawful passage for the complete outing has not been established. The course also encounters the border zone. The State Border Committee requires a travel identity document and a pass for foreign visitors permanently residing outside Belarus; separate rules apply to citizens and residents. The journey stays within Belarus and does not provide a Polish-border crossing.

How much time to allow

A day-by-day plan for the multi-day outing is not established. Allocate the northern arc through Dyatlovo and Gorodishche, a Slonim town stop and the return through Kobrin according to your preparation and agreed accommodation. An overnight stop in Slonim was mentioned in the historic brevet, but present accommodation and service arrangements have not been confirmed. The former event’s regulations do not replace a visitor’s plan. Allow for food, repairs, weather and permitted alternatives.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose settled weather without snow or ice and with sufficient daylight. The historic June brevet establishes a summer event format, rather than access to every road in every season. Account for wind on open roads and rain and surface conditions in woodland. Confirm access to protected and border areas for the actual travel date independently of the weather.
