Route description

This July Brest variant leads from Chernavchitsy and Kamenets towards Svisloch, Bolshaya Berestovitsa and Volkovysk. Its appeal lies in the combination of Bialowieza forest roads and historic town stops. Early in the journey, Holy Trinity Church in Chernavchitsy offers its old facade to the road. Beyond Kamenets and Shereshevo come the Left Lesnaya and Narew rivers, before the forest section gradually gives way to open rural roads. Allow time for Svisloch and the central part of Bolshaya Berestovitsa on the northern arc. Crossing the Svisloch River helps reveal how the valleys connect neighbouring small towns. The approach to Volkovysk encounters the Ros; in the town itself, the course passes near the Bagration bust in front of the military-history museum’s historic house. Exploring the exhibitions requires a separate stop, while the exterior monument already provides a specific historical reference. The return branch brings the cyclist close to Lyskovo’s Trinity Church and the surviving Missionaries’ Monastery building. Notice the old ensemble from the road, leaving entry into the ruins beyond an ordinary roadside stop. The journey then returns through the Yaselda, Kobrin with the Mukhavets and Zhabinka to Brest. This variant is for a confident independent cyclist: agree overnight stops, present permitted passage through the forest and border areas, food and return arrangements beforehand.

Link the forest Narew with Svisloch, Bolshaya Berestovitsa and Volkovysk’s history, then add Lyskovo’s monastic ensemble to the return. This variant has its own northern arc and a close road approach to Lyskovo, providing a different set of stops from the Brest journey through Dyatlovo and Gorodishche.

Nearby

Porozovo’s centre with its churches and synagogue, Kamenets Tower, Svisloch museums and a thorough exploration of Bolshaya Berestovitsa require separate approaches. Porozovo named a historic fuel-station control, rather than a tour of the town centre. Volkovysk museum exhibitions, Franciszek Karpiński’s grave and a detailed exploration of the Lyskovo complex are separate arrangements. Internal Bialowieza visitor programmes are not included as free services. Historic control fuel stations and shops do not guarantee present supplies or accommodation.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Use Brest Central as a railway reference when arriving with a bicycle, and check carriage rules separately. The beginning is beside the fuel station on Aviatsionny Lane, requiring an independent urban approach from the station. Leave a margin before your train after returning. Intermediate services and bicycle collection from Svisloch, Berestovitsa or Volkovysk for your travel date have not been independently confirmed.
By car
The starting reference is Fuel Station No 17 at 20 Aviatsionny Lane in Brest. Check present signs for approach and drop-off; beginning beside a fuel station does not establish permission to leave a vehicle on its grounds. Agree support along the northern arc in permitted road locations, accounting for the border-zone regime. Vehicle access into the protected forest is not automatically established as permitted.
Parking
Present parking has not been confirmed. Obtain the parking owner’s agreement for the entire outing and check access after returning. Do not treat the fuel forecourt as confirmed long-stay parking. Additional border-zone requirements need separate checking.

Difficult sections and safety

Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 239 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 70%, Paving stones 6%, Improved surface 5%, Unknown 13%.
Риски Alongside endurance, this outing requires confidence around vehicle traffic, reliable lighting and independent repair skills. Use only permitted railway crossings; widely spaced references do not justify shortcuts across fields or industrial grounds. The variant actually encounters Bialowieza National Park: check present access to the particular roads and stopping arrangements with its administration. Lawful complete passage has not been independently established. The course also encounters the border zone. Foreign visitors permanently residing outside Belarus need a travel identity document and a pass under State Border Committee rules; separate rules apply to citizens and residents. This journey contains no international border crossing. Stopping beside Lyskovo’s walls does not establish safe access inside the ruins.

How much time to allow

A day-by-day plan for the multi-day outing is not established. Allocate the forest approach from Brest Region, the northern arc through Svisloch and Bolshaya Berestovitsa, a Volkovysk stop and the Lyskovo return according to preparation and confirmed accommodation. The historic brevet allowed riding into the next calendar day; its control closures are not a present visitor’s travel time. Plan food, sleep, repairs and a reserve for permitted alternatives separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A settled warm period without snow or ice is more convenient for an independent ride. The historic July format does not guarantee forest access or road connections for every date. Open sections are exposed to wind and heat, while woodland conditions depend on rain and surfaces. If the plan reaches darkness, allow for reliable lighting and an overnight or rest place agreed in advance.
