Route description

Four rivers give this long ride north of Gomel its shape: the Iput, Besed, Sozh and Uza. Leaving the Lunacharskogo Street area, the road crosses the Iput and heads towards Vetka. This town has a rich Old Believer heritage; allow a separate museum visit if you would like to see its icons, early books and patterned woven towels. Beyond Vetka, the journey reaches Svetilovichi and crosses the Besed. A broad northern arc leads across the Sozh before turning towards Buda-Koshelevo. The town offers a natural pause before the road continues to Naspa, the westernmost part of the outing. The return passes the Uza and finishes near Mogilevskaya Street in Gomel. Choose this version for its sequence of river valleys, village streets and open road. Leave room for short stops away from traffic and for an optional encounter with local craft traditions. The western return needs advance preparation: it includes major roads and a restricted service approach, so permitted bicycle connections must be established first.

Nearby

Vetka’s Museum of Old Believers and Belarusian Traditions lies off the road course; its icons, books and textiles merit an additional visit. Buda-Koshelevo’s local history museum is temporarily suspended. For an optional cultural stop, check admission to the Moiseenko Gallery at 4 Komsomolskaya Street. Central Chechersk is outside this version.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
For the Gomel start, use Pugacheva Street Bus Stop near Lunacharskogo Street as a local reference. Tekstilnaya Street Bus Stop is an additional approach near the finish. Check suitable services and bicycle carriage. The ends lie in different parts of the city, so plan the onward connection separately.
By car
The starting reference is Fuel Station 52 on Lunacharskogo Street; the finish is near Fuel Station 11 on Mogilevskaya Street in Gomel. Choose lawful drop-off and pickup locations using current signs and arrange a return to your car. Fuel-station names identify the area without establishing long-term parking permission.
Parking
Current parking has not been confirmed. Arrange car storage in Gomel separately and allow for returning from the Mogilevskaya Street area.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 91%, Compacted dirt 4%.
Риски Current lawful passage of the complete outing by bicycle has not been confirmed. The western section uses the M5, approaches to M8 junctions and a major road near the finish. Establish permitted movement and a safe connection before departure; omit any section without a lawful continuation. A shoulder alone does not establish permission. A service approach near Naspa has restricted access and needs separate confirmation. On rural sections, allow for headwinds and the distance between suitable stopping places. Pause at crossings only where stopping is permitted and clear of traffic.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 18 h 51 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A prolonged outing for an experienced distance cyclist; verified independent completion time is unavailable. Once the permitted course is settled, divide stops between Vetka, Svetilovichi, Buda-Koshelevo and the return to Gomel. Museums require additional time. If daylight is insufficient, shorten the outing or arrange accommodation beforehand.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry roads without snow or ice, moderate temperatures and long daylight are preferable. Check approaches after spring flooding, plan water in summer and a daylight finish in autumn. Strong headwinds substantially change the effort on exposed sections.
