Route description

This journey around Gomel brings together the rural roads west of the city and old Dobrush on the Iput. It begins towards Tereshkovichi, crosses the Sozh and continues through Pribor and Uritskoye to Staraya Belitsa. St Nicholas Church beside the turn and the church in Uvarovichi invite attention to smaller places easily missed on a routine drive through the region. Beyond Buda-Koshelevo, the road turns east through Prisno and Sherstin towards Vetka. A second Sozh crossing introduces the eastern part of the journey. Explore Dobrush with time for pauses: the cathedral on Paskevicha Street, local history museum, Fyodor Paskevich monument and old mill buildings tell the story of a town shaped by paper production. Look closely at the brick façades from the street, keeping outside operational premises. The continuation leads through Korma, with its Intercession Church, then Pererost and Terekhovka. Returning through Korenevka offers an opportunity to arrange an additional visit to the Paskevich manor house. The finish near Lugovaya Street brings this substantial road journey back to Gomel.

Nearby

In Vetka, the Museum of Old Believers and Belarusian Traditions lies off the passing road; add a separate visit for its icons, books and textiles. In Korenevka, the Paskevich manor house stands within grounds beside the street. Check access with the forest base rather than expecting unrestricted interior visits. Buda-Koshelevo’s local history museum is temporarily suspended; for an additional stop, check the programme at the Moiseenko Gallery, 4 Komsomolskaya Street.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
For the southern Gomel start, use Turn to Sevruki Bus Stop as a reference. The finish requires an additional approach to Lunacharskogo Street Bus Stop. Check services and bicycle carriage beforehand. Start and finish occupy different locations, so returning to the initial point requires a separate urban connection.
By car
The starting reference is Fuel Station 83 near Zaytseva Street; the finish is Fuel Station 29 on Lugovaya Street in Gomel. Select lawful drop-off and pickup locations using current signs. Arrange the return to your car; a fuel station does not establish permission for long-term parking.
Parking
No long-term parking location has been verified. Arrange one in Gomel and plan the return from Lugovaya Street. Do not leave a car on fuel-station or industrial premises without permission.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 69%, Improved surface 2%, Compacted dirt 1%, Unknown 28%.
Риски Current permitted passage of the entire journey by bicycle has not been confirmed. It includes parts of the M8, M10, M5 and their junctions. Establish lawful bicycle connections before departure; where no safe permitted continuation exists, revise the plan or omit that section. A service approach west of Gomel has restricted access. Near Uritskoye, do not rely on the footpath with a bicycle prohibition as an alternative to the main road. In Dobrush, stay on the street passage: proximity to mill buildings does not permit entry to the factory. Cross railway lines only at currently operating designated crossings. Check local turns near Korma.

How much time to allow

С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days to explore the towns at a comfortable pace, with accommodation arranged beforehand. Build stages around Buda-Koshelevo, Vetka, Dobrush and the eastern arc through Terekhovka according to your pace. Dobrush’s museum and optional manor visits need separate time. A verified overall touring duration is unavailable.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry weather without snow or ice, with long daylight and moderate temperatures. In summer, allow for heat and water between settlements; in spring, check river approaches; in autumn, account for early darkness. Strong winds are particularly noticeable on exposed rural roads.
