Route description

The journey begins beside the Mound of Glory in Gomel’s Festivalny Park. Pause by the Eternal Flame before heading out on the broad road circuit around the city. The first arc leads through Kopan and Krivsk to Buda-Koshelevo, then returns through Uvarovichi and Staraya Belitsa. St Nicholas Church beside the village road marks the transition towards Gomel’s northern outskirts. Beyond Lopatino, the road reaches the Sozh and Vetka. An excavator monument and a memorial to the district’s first mechanisation workers add distinctive details to the town crossing. Dobrush follows, best encountered through Paskevicha Street and the Iput. St Nicholas Cathedral, the museum and the Fyodor Paskevich monument stand beside the road. Across the river, the paper mill and its workers’ houses continue the story. Allow time for the museum if you would like to understand the region’s development from crafts to industry. The southern section passes through Terekhovka before turning towards Korenevka and Gomel again. Its closing arc runs past the Church of Manefa of Gomel towards Sevruki and Chyonki. Beyond Tikhvin Church, the road crosses the Sozh once more, passes the memorial stone near Podbuglak and returns to the Rechitsa road. The finish is separate from Festivalny Park, so plan the connection back to your accommodation or the Mound of Glory beforehand.

Nearby

At the start, an additional approach leads to the Su-24M aircraft beside Sukhoi University. Vetka Museum also requires a detour from the road used here. In Korenevka, the Paskevich hunting lodge lies on forestry-station grounds; establish access before planning a visit. These optional stops add time and do not replace the required road connections.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Arrive in Gomel. Festivalny Park bus stop on Rechitsky Avenue provides an arrival reference; a separate walk through the park leads to the memorial at the start. Check current services, timetables and bicycle carriage. Arrange your return from the Fuel Station 87 area where the journey finishes, rather than from the park.
By car
The start is inside Festivalny Park beside the memorial. Choose a permitted drop-off point on a nearby street; vehicle access to the Mound of Glory itself has not been confirmed. The journey ends at Fuel Station 87 on the Rechitsa road. Agree a separate approach and safe pickup location there.
Parking
No parking suitable for leaving a car throughout the journey has been confirmed. Establish a suitable city parking location and its permitted duration. Neither the memorial grounds nor the fuel station provides an automatic basis for leaving a vehicle without agreement.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 64%, Gravel 4%, Concrete 3%, Unknown 24%.
Риски The main challenge is prolonged travel on roads carrying motor traffic, including complex M5, M8 and M10 connections. Current permitted bicycle passage through every section has not been confirmed. Establish the required exits, crossings and roadworks before departure; a past sporting event does not guarantee access today. Do not leave the main street for restricted factory service roads in Dobrush. Avoid the Sviridova Street branch in northern Gomel that prohibits bicycles and pedestrians, and the parallel path near Uritskoye that prohibits bicycles. These are neighbouring directions, not established bypasses. Respect visiting rules at memorials and churches. Check current local restrictions for the southern arc near Terekhovka, especially if changing the itinerary.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 d 3 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days for a journey that includes Dobrush and the memorial sites, with overnight stops chosen beforehand. Completing it as a single sporting day requires separate preparation and is unsuitable as a normal sightseeing schedule. Allow additional time for the museum and the connection from the finish to your accommodation.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry conditions without snow or ice and enough daylight. Wind matters on the country roads, while hot weather increases water requirements. After prolonged rain, check approaches and river crossings. Shorten autumn stages to finish in daylight.
