Route description

This eastern arc from Gomel links village churches, Krasnopolye’s memorials and the older streets of Cherikov. Beyond the Iput, the road reaches Vetka, where a monument to the first tractor drivers and an excavator stand beside the street. Svetilovichi marks the crossing of the Besed, while Polesye brings St Nicholas Church close to the road. The smaller stops are part of the appeal: local monuments reveal a different side of the region from its main town squares. In Krasnopolye, the journey passes monuments to Mikhail Antonov and Yakov Zevin, a military vehicle displayed at a memorial site and a monument commemorating the Chernobyl disaster. The Mound of Glory stands beyond the settlement, before the road continues to the Sozh and Cherikov. Look for the Nativity of the Virgin Church in an older town building and historic industrial premises towards the western exit. Allow separate time if you would like to explore the local museums. After crossing the Pronya, the journey skirts northern Slavgorod and continues through Kristopolye and Dovsk. A roadside postal station recalls earlier travellers; in Rogachev, the Dnieper and Drut follow one another along the course. Uritskoye and Pribor lead back towards Gomel’s western edge. This is a variant of the long journey through Cherikov, retaining the same principal towns and river crossings, with the start and finish in different parts of Gomel.
