Route description

On the southern side of Terskey Ala-Too, this journey enters Arabel’s high river country. Open syrts, tributaries and distant ridges create an Inner Tien Shan landscape. The route meets Ittyshi and Kichi-Maitor, then connects their valleys with Arabel-Suu, whose water drains towards the Naryn system. The reward comes from paying attention to the valley itself. Each tributary changes the pattern of slopes, while the river reveals the connections between parts of the high country. Waterside pauses and broad horizons give the journey quiet character, though its remoteness needs a prepared group. Check the actual path and crossings locally with someone who knows Arabel; a river-valley direction does not guarantee an uninterrupted convenient passage.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 112 м.
SurfaceGravel 59%, Unknown 41%.
Риски The principal concerns are navigation in open high country, tributaries and crossings. Obtain local confirmation of path continuity and bank bypasses before departure. Glacial rivers can change quickly after warming or rain. Fog and cold wind complicate even gentle-looking ground; camp outside channels and marshy hollows.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 7 h 18 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A preliminary allowance is 2 walking days for a self-supported group, plus a separate river and weather reserve. This is an editorial estimate, not a published duration for this variant. Crossing checks may change the stages; add access to the high start and the final transport exit.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose high-mountain summer with checked river levels and open approaches. Summer still permits frost, cold precipitation and remaining snow. Early and late season require a recent assessment by a local mountain guide.
