Route description

The route to Manskaya Baba is absent from the national park's published list of authorised itineraries. The Purple Trail must remain off your walking plans until an approved route is announced. Manskaya Baba is one of the southern Stolby group's most striking formations. Its enormous 'Head' appears to balance improbably on its stone base, with grooves and weathered hollows giving it a stern expression. The approach leads away from First Pillar and Elephant Rock towards Cain and Abel, then to Manskaya Baba itself. This is a different side of the famous rock district, not a casual extension of the central walk. If official access becomes available, admire it from the authorised trail; climbing passages described in historic Stolby literature are not walking directions.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Travel to Turbaza, then walk along the Laletino road towards Pereval. The park lists buses 19, 50 and 78, plus 80 at weekends; check the current service before travelling. The rock district lies above the city entrance, so the approach is part of the day's effort.
By car
The city approach is at 140 Sverdlovskaya Street, building 5. Continue towards Pereval on foot; vehicle access to the rock district requires prior arrangements with the park's tourism office. A road on a map is not permission to drive it.
Parking
A designated long-stay parking place at this city approach has not been established. Agree a permitted place near Sverdlovskaya Street before travelling. Pereval has a rest area and a service-vehicle stopping place; driving there requires a separate arrangement with the park.
