Route description

From Cleopatra Saddle, this journey reveals the southern side of the Negoiu massif. The rocky Pietroasă bowl and upper Izvorul Negoiului come first, followed by woodland and Topolog valley. Later, pastoral ground towards Podeanu and the Cumpăna approaches above Vidraru add another landscape. This version returns over some familiar passages and needs a broader walking plan than a direct descent from the saddle. The transition from an open stone amphitheatre into a wooded valley is particularly memorable. The endpoint is on the Cumpăna approach; arrange the final access to operating accommodation and onward travel separately.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 3562 м.
SurfaceDirt 47%, Gravel 1%, Unknown 52%.
Риски The upper passage is steep and rocky; avoid dislodging stones onto walkers below. Stream crossings occur, and lower marking is imperfect in places. Weather, water and repeated climbs affect progress; winter needs a separate mountain assessment.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 24–32 h

This is an editorial effort plan, not a confirmed chain of serviced overnight stops. Establish accommodation and water before departure. The short duration in the present upper-path guide does not cover the whole journey.
