Route description

From Kończysty Wierch, the path leaves the main border ridge towards Trzydniowiański Wierch. Rather than dropping immediately into the valley, it follows open mountain ground through Dudowa Przełęcz and Szyja Pass. Compare the slopes on either side and watch Kończysty’s outline change behind you. Between the two summits there is room for deliberate mountain walking and brief pauses when the weather allows. Reaching Trzydniowiański still leaves a descent to Chochołowska, so arrange the return before stepping onto the ridge.

Route suitability

Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Published buses reach Siwa Polana, followed by a long ascent to the mountain start. Children need high mountain experience and stamina for the complete outing. The lower Chochołowska dog exception does not cover this ridge, and cycling is not permitted. Coverage is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Czubik stands beside the ridge path, but its summit is excluded from this section. Starorobociański and Jarząbczy Wierch are separate continuations. A descent into Slovakia needs checks on TANAP rules and seasonal restrictions; permission for a Polish path does not cover a neighbouring approach.

Getting there

Difficult sections and safety

Elevation gain
The open ridge is exposed to wind, thunderstorms and poor visibility. Rocky ground needs careful footing; summer experience alone is insufficient on snow or ice. At review, TPN warns of hard snow and icy high paths. Stay on the marked direction rather than descending unfamiliar gullies, and finish before dusk.

How much time to allow

PTTK gives about 45 minutes from Kończysty to Trzydniowiański; allow roughly one to one and a half hours with pauses. This covers only the ridge section. With a Chochołowska ascent and subsequent descent, plan a full day, approximately eight to ten hours on your selected itinerary. Retracing the ridge takes additional time.

Best time to go

Choose a stable, snow-free summer day without thunderstorms or strong wind. Check ice and snow before an early-autumn departure. A winter ridge outing requires different preparation; a summer date also does not guarantee snow-free ground.

What to bring

Mountain footwear with a grippy sole.
Water and food for the full day and lower approaches.
Windproof outer layer, rain protection and warm clothing.
