Route description

This Fusine mountain variant links the exterior of Luigi Zacchi Hut, Monte Svabezza and the edge of Ledine’s intermittent lake near Rateče. Forested slopes below the Ponce walls give way to the lower border area, while water after rain can leave a meadow surface at the finish. The departure is already in the mountains, with returns over individual connections. CAI has replaced the old equipped gully passage with a diversion and declared the former equipment unusable. The complete version cannot be recommended until the permitted diversion has been clarified.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The area combines a stone-and-timber mountain hut, Svabezza’s wooded viewpoint and Ledine’s seasonal basin. It offers a transition from Fusine’s mountain surroundings into the valley on the Slovenian side. Plan a visit after checking the current diversion; the presence of old cables does not establish a usable passage.

Nearby

La Porticina, Little Ponce and the Fusine lake shores need additional approaches. Capanna Ponza stands above the usual path; CAI reports a closed hut with an attic for emergencies, beyond conventional accommodation. Zelenci Nature Reserve and the resort centre beyond Rateče lie past the selected Ledine finish.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Reliable public transport to the high departure and from the finishing area is unconfirmed. Establish road arrival in the Fusine area and onward transfer from Rateče first. A separate walking approach connects the road with the mountain start. Transport from the doors of the mountain hut should not be assumed.
By car
Arrange road arrival in the lower Fusine Lakes area, then follow a currently permitted walking approach. The selected start lies above the road zone. The finish is beside Ledine on the Slovenian side, so organise a return to your vehicle beforehand. Mountain service paths are not confirmed vehicle access.
Parking
Parking for the entire selected programme is unconfirmed. Check authorised lower parking in the Fusine area and the permitted length of stay. The high starting approach has no established vehicle space. Confirm road pickup arrangements and onward transfer separately at Ledine.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1251 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 14%, Gravel 13%, Fine gravel 5%, Unknown 63%.
Риски The principal issue is the former equipped gully passage between the Zacchi area and Svabezza. CAI identifies a new diversion and states that the old cables and structures are out of service and unusable. Do not use them or try to compensate for their condition with personal protection. Confirm the current diversion with the responsible club before departure. The approved new path still has steep passages for experienced walkers; wet forest slopes need care.

A day-by-day plan is not established. Total timing for this expanded multiday version is unconfirmed, and standard path512 or circular-stage timings do not apply. Clarify the diversion around the unusable passage and permitted rest places first. On12October2026, Zacchi Hut reports closure until December; its accommodation and meals are currently outside a confirmed plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry, snow-free conditions after checking the approved diversion. Good weather does not restore the retired equipment. Autumn rain can fill Ledine, while Zacchi Hut closes seasonally. The hut’s winter reopening does not make the entire crossing an ordinary winter walk.

What to bring
