Route description

Biniaraix’s old path descends from the upper gorge through Coll d’en Se towards the village. This is the Camí Vell descent, reached first by a separately planned mountain approach. Near Torrent de l’Ofre you meet the stone path, cross the saddle and return towards the valley’s rural edge. The historic passage itself is the attraction: its paving and the surrounding terraces preserve the work of people who shaped this part of the Tramuntana.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Choose Camí Vell for your return from the gorge if you want to examine an old road closely rather than view the mountains only from Sóller. Stone forms both the walking surface and the agricultural surroundings. Descending through Coll d’en Se gives a tangible sense of the valley’s connections with the hills before modern roads.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car: Hard With children: With caution With a dog: No data By bike: No With a stroller: No Mobile signal: No data Assess suitability for the whole day, including the upper approach. Children need experience on stone steps and sloping ground. The official visitor information excludes strollers and wheelchairs. Dog access rules and reliable signal for this version have not been established.

Nearby

Cova de ses Alfàbies is off Camí Vell and requires a separate approach; authorised and practical access inside has not been established. Salt des Cans Waterfall is also outside this descent. Choose any additional path to it separately and assess water and ground conditions. Leave central Biniaraix and Sóller for a continuation after returning from the mountains.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
TIB204 connects Palma with Sóller. Plan the onward journey to Biniaraix and the climb to the upper Camí Vell start separately: the town bus does not reach the start of this descent. Sóller centre1 serves the return towards Palma; check the current timetable and allow for the walk from the village. Choose the return service using the entire day’s plan.
By car
Plan the car journey to the Sóller or Biniaraix area, followed by a legal parking place and a walking approach. The upper start lies in the gorge, beyond the town roads. This version ends towards the lower village edge, so connect the approach and descent into a complete outing beforehand. Authorised private driving along Camí Vell has not been established.
Parking
Verified parking directly at the upper start has not been established. Choose a legal space lower in the valley and include the approach in your plan. Check local restrictions before entering narrow village streets. Avoid leaving a car at a gate or on a farm access road simply to shorten the walk.

What to expect

Places
Camí Vell Old Path the protected historic stone passage, with terraces around it.
Coll d’en Se the named saddle on the descent towards Biniaraix.
Torrent de l’Ofre the watercourse near the upper start, which can be dry.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 129 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Pay attention on stone steps and paving during the descent, particularly after rain. Follow the bends rather than cutting across terraces; historic walls and farm plots deserve care. In high water or poor visibility, reconsider the entire mountain approach before reaching Camí Vell. Fatigue after the climb can make the lower steps more demanding than they appear at the morning start.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 54 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Include the descent in a planned mountain day: the approach from Biniaraix or another chosen start, a pause by the upper watercourse, the crossing of Coll d’en Se and the return towards the village. Keep daylight for the stone descent. The onward walk to transport in Sóller is additional. The official complete circular walk’s programme cannot automatically be applied to this version.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry weather with good visibility. Spring and autumn often make a longer mountain outing more comfortable; start early in hot weather and do not rely on water in the stream. After heavy rain, actual paving and water conditions matter more than the season. Check the forecast for the mountain portion of the day.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода

Familiar poles for the descent
Water and food for the approach and return
A hat, sun protection and rain protection
A map of all chosen approaches and a charged phone
A torch and personal first-aid kit
A bag for taking litter away
