Route description

From La Rambleta, Teide’s upper path leads towards Pico Viejo Viewpoint. Fumarole country and forms left by earlier eruptions give this short outing its volcanic character. Move calmly, allowing time to study the landscape and account for wellbeing at altitude. At the actual viewpoint, Pico Viejo’s crater—also known as Montaña Chahorra—becomes the main attraction. Dark Narices del Teide lava appears in the scenery, while clear weather may reveal distant La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. This version ends at the viewing area. Arrange arrival and return beforehand: cable-car ticket conditions or a permitted walking approach determine the time available to enjoy the scene.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
When the cable car operates, reach the beginning through lower bus arrival and a separate ticket. Account for altitude and wellbeing even on this short outing. The operator excludes children under three from the cabin and offers its guided viewpoint activity from age five. Bicycles and strollers are unsuitable; dog rules and reception are unestablished.

Nearby

Teide’s summit is reached on the independent Telesforo Bravo trail with a separate permit. The Pico Viejo crater approach and Narices del Teide journey also need their own plans. La Fortaleza Viewpoint is another upper walk; a view from this selected platform does not establish visits to all those places.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
TITSA publishes routes 342 and 348 to the lower Teleférico del Teide stop. Independently ascend by an operating cable car with a separate ticket. For walking arrival or descent, check permissions for the chosen regulated paths beforehand; no bus at La Rambleta is established.
By car
Leave the vehicle on the lower cable-car roadside. La Rambleta has no vehicle access; arrange the subsequent ascent and return under current conditions. Check roads, cable-car operation and upper-path access before travelling.
Parking
The operator confirms base-station parking and publishes its current hours. Entry and exit are closed outside them. There is no vehicle space at the upper beginning; independently check lower availability and timely return.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Even this short upper path is at high altitude: move slowly and stop if feeling unwell. Account for wind, cold, strong sun, snow and ice. Stay away from hot gas outlets and remain on permitted paths rather than approaching a crater. Check closures and operator restrictions beforehand; the return must fit permitted upper-stay conditions.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route Around 30 min
With stops | 30–40 min The park gives around half an hour in one direction. The pause interval is an editorial allowance for the selected outward walk only. Add the return to La Rambleta and descent waiting independently. Ordinary cable-car visitors currently have a one-hour upper-stay limit: fit pauses and the return into that condition or agree another permitted visiting arrangement beforehand.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose clear weather with light wind and an open upper path. Summer sunshine does not remove cold at altitude. Winter snow and ice may close the path even when the cable car operates; check permitted access before ascending.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy mountain footwear, warm clothing and windproofs.
Hat, sun protection, water and a small snack.
Charged phone, headlamp and personal first-aid kit.
A ticket and return conditions or required permissions for an independent walking approach.
