Route description

Ma-10 takes the cyclist from the Sóller area up towards Monnàber Tunnel, leaving the valley below for the mountainous Tramuntana. Here, “Puig Major” names the familiar road climb: the upper destination is the tunnel, beyond which the military summit area is separate. This version includes repeated passages along some road sections before finishing at Monnàber. It suits a prepared mountain ride with the return to the valley arranged beforehand.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The road to Monnàber introduces the Tramuntana as a cycling destination, with the valley dropping away as the day develops into a mountain climb. A definite upper destination helps you pace the effort and choose stops. Add Ses Barques viewpoint as a separately planned pause if you want to look across the valley from its platform.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Experience on long climbs, mountain descents and roads shared with cars is needed. This is unsuitable for an ordinary children’s outing. Arrange a bicycle start in the valley to avoid a car; bus carriage requires separate checking. Neither signal nor assistance at every bend is guaranteed.

Nearby

Mirador de ses Barques is near the road, but the viewpoint platform needs a separate pause and short approach. It overlooks the Sóller valley and port. Puig Major’s summit and military road are beyond this ride and require separate authorisation. Any continuation to Cúber or Gorg Blau reservoirs also needs its own plan beyond the Monnàber finish.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
TIB204 connects Sóller with Palma and Port de Sóller. Sóller centre1 is the town stop for the return towards Palma, with a separate approach to the cycling start. Check bicycle carriage for the chosen service or arrange the bicycle in the valley. Scheduled transport directly from the upper tunnel finish has not been confirmed here.
By car
Arrive around Sóller and choose a legal point to switch to the bicycle. The version ends in the mountains, so include the return to the car in the full plan before setting off. Unload beyond the traffic lane. Access to the military area of Puig Major is not an ordinary continuation of the visitor journey.
Parking
Verified parking at the exact cycling start has not been established. Find out where you may leave a car in the valley for the full outing. Choose only permitted roadside stopping places and follow signs. Do not treat a tunnel entrance or narrow shoulder as a parking place.

Places
Monnàber Tunnel the particular upper reference point of the well-known Ma-10 cycling climb, beyond which the mountain summit remains separate.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 2034 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 88%, Unknown 12%.
Риски Effort builds on the long ascent, and the upper section demands attention to lighting and traffic around the tunnel. If your plan crosses it, switch lights on beforehand and follow current signs. A separate return descent requires good brakes and energy in reserve. In poor visibility, do not replace a necessary rest with a hurried finish.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 39 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Plan a one-day mountain ride with a margin for pauses and repeated passages along some lower sections. The separate return after the upper finish remains part of the full day. Do not apply the standard single ascent’s time to this entire version. Arrange the return before setting off and retain enough daylight.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry weather with mountain visibility and manageable wind. Start early in heat and take an extra layer for the cooler upper road and return descent. Assess conditions after a downpour or during strong wind, postponing if handling becomes difficult. Check current restrictions before leaving.

What to bring

A helmet and highly visible clothing
Front and rear lights for the tunnel section
