Route description

The journey starts on Munich’s Marienplatz, amid the city’s architectural ensemble, and heads towards the Isar and northern Alps. In the Karwendel, rocky Schlauchkar reaches an actual high pass; Tyrolean valleys, demanding Friesenbergscharte and the southern continuation through Pfitscher Joch follow. The Dolomites unfold at Würzjoch and on rocky crossings, including the protected Setus passage in Sella and Piero Rossi in the Schiara group. After Belluno and Porta Dante, the landscape changes to plain and lagoon. A boat passage from the Punta Sabbioni side leads to Venice’s walking portion and Piazza San Marco. However, Venice is not the last point of this version: a northern plain return and additional Dolomite outings are included, ending at a mountain junction in the Schiara group. Agree the chosen branches, accommodation sequence and final exit before travelling. This combination needs more independent planning than the ordinary southern crossing between the two city squares.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Public transport serves the Munich start, but the final finish is in the mountains and requires a separate exit and departure. Rocky passes, protected climbing passages and prolonged walking are unsuitable for an ordinary outing with children or a dog. A bicycle cannot complete the mountain footpaths and is prohibited in the Lizum–Walchen area; strollers are unsuitable. Continuous reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Friesenberghaus requires a separate approach; its operator announces winter pause. Avoid the old Friesenbergsee north-side shortcut marked closed because of rockfall. Agree summit outings to Birkkarspitze, Peitlerkofel, Schiara or Pelf independently. Basilica, palace and museum interiors around Piazza San Marco, and Munich tower ascents, are separate visits.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
MVG confirms S-Bahn or underground arrival at Marienplatz; check current changes for the starting date. ACTV water transport from Punta Sabbioni is confirmed for the lagoon portion: verify the boat, landing and ticket separately. The final mountain junction requires an additional exit to an accessible settlement and an arranged departure.
By car
Complete vehicle access for this journey is unconfirmed. If arriving in Munich by car, choose a permitted city drop-off and walking approach to the square beforehand. Returning from the Schiara group to the parked vehicle needs a separate plan; mountain paths and the lagoon crossing do not form a driving itinerary.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Arrange vehicle storage for the complete journey in advance. References to car parks in individual cities or at Punta Sabbioni do not establish a suitable space for this prolonged version.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 44943 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 28%, Gravel 10%, Dirt 7%, Unknown 42%.
Риски Schlauchkar, Friesenbergscharte and protected rock passages require mountain experience, settled weather and no dangerous snow. Protected climbing passages need a helmet, harness and suitable via ferrata set, with practical skill in their use. At Lizum–Walchen, use only approved marked paths outside applicable restrictions; check the specific zone map for the day and obey guards. The northern plain return uses SS 13 and SP 4 roads, locally without pavements: establish safe permitted pedestrian passage before departure. Cross the lagoon by boat.

Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished This is a multi-day version with return and additional mountain branches; its complete duration is unconfirmed. A day-by-day plan is not established. Choose the necessary branches and confirm accommodation, the boat passage and the extra descent from the mountain finish before departure. The ordinary stage plan for a linear Munich–Venice crossing does not time this combination.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Snow-free passes and rock-passage conditions control the mountain journey, followed by availability of agreed accommodation. Summer weather can still bring fresh snow or thunderstorms. Autumn shortens daylight and some hut seasons end; the city or lagoon portion does not establish winter readiness in the mountains. Check current military dates and zone maps separately at Lizum–Walchen.
