Route description

This upper passage visits Tanzbödeli, an open Alpine terrace above the rear Lauterbrunnen valley. From the mountain departure in the Schwendriwald area, the path passes through the viewpoint and finishes at the Busengrat junction. Clear weather reveals the rock walls and glacial surroundings from Jungfrau to Tschingelhorn. Reach the departure separately and choose an authorised descent afterwards: this short upper walk forms only part of a substantial mountain day.

Nearby

Obersteinberg lies on another approach and can form a separate stop or overnight stay after advance arrangements. Its hotel publishes a June–September season, so an October meal cannot be assumed. Continuing through Busenalp and Sefinental is a separate descent. Spitzhorn remains outside the selected path.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Use the train to Lauterbrunnen and bus to Stechelberg, Hotel for the lower arrival. A separate mountain ascent reaches the upper departure. Account for that approach and your chosen descent before arranging return tickets. The bus serves the valley rather than Tanzbödeli.
By car
Drive to Stechelberg and continue on authorised mountain paths. A separate ascent reaches the Schwendriwald-area departure. Vehicle access to Tanzbödeli is not established. Your descent must regain the car in the valley or an arranged collection point.
Parking
Paid parking is available at the lower Stechelberg approach. Choose a permitted space and check the tariff for the whole mountain day. Arrange a longer stay separately for an overnight programme. Parking at Tanzbödeli is not established.

Риски Tanzbödeli has steep mountain approaches and passages among rock bands. Keep steady footing and stay on the path, especially on wet grass, snow or in fog. How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 27 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow an estimated 30–60 minutes for the upper passage and viewpoint pause. Add the valley ascent and descent separately, as they occupy most of the day. The full Obersteinberg circuit’s duration cannot describe this short section. Retain a margin before the return bus.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose clear, settled weather and snow-free upper paths, usually in summer and early autumn. Good visibility helps reveal the panorama. Postpone in wet grass, snowfall or fog. Visits to the neighbouring mountain hotel depend on its separate operating season.
