Route description

From Santa Lucía Chapel in O Eixo, the walk heads towards Santiago de Compostela’s rural and wooded outskirts. A stone cross stands beside the departure, while the way ahead leads to Lavacolla and a footbridge over the Sionlla. This extended version includes branches and returns over some paths, so choose your direction beforehand and leave the day free. Finish near Lavacolla, with San Paio Church slightly beyond the outing. A separate church approach can round off the day if time and confirmed access allow.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car: Hard With children: No With a dog: With caution By bike: No data With a stroller: No Mobile signal: No data The complete extended version needs experience of long walks and independent navigation at woodland junctions. For a family outing, choose a separately planned short section. Arrange transport between the different endpoints beforehand. Keep dogs under control near roads and residential properties.

Nearby

San Paio de Sabugueira Church lies beyond the actual finish and requires a separate approach. Check opening hours before an interior visit. Santiago’s historic centre and cathedral are outside this woodland traverse. Santiago Airport is also not the endpoint; arrange airport travel separately using accessible transport.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Ask TUSSA about a suitable service to Santa Lucía stop and the current boarding point for your Lavacolla return. Check the current network before relying on an older bus number. Allow separate approaches to the exact start and from the finish. Confirm the last service or collection before walking.
By car
Approach Santa Lucía Chapel from N-525, choosing an accessible turn according to current signs. The finish near Lavacolla is separate from the start. Arrange collection or a return to the car. Driving farther along the woodland walking paths has not been established.
Parking
The municipality identifies parking by Santa Lucía Chapel. Current fees, capacity and permission to leave a car until evening have not been established; check conditions locally. Arrange the separate return from Lavacolla. Keep entrances clear and respect signs prohibiting parking.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 27%, Compacted dirt 5%, Paving stones 1%, Unknown 68%.
Риски The main task is navigating the branches while retaining energy for the full extended version. After rain, allow for mud, wet roots and slippery crossings. Watch traffic where the walk meets roads. Do not bypass barriers over private property; if passage is closed, leave through an accessible safe exit.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 7 h 32 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow6–8hours for the walking day, including stops, branches and returning over some paths. This is an editorial planning range for the complete extended version; pace and weather may substantially change it. Start in the morning with the order of branches and an early exit chosen beforehand. A separate San Paio visit and the return after finishing add time.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry weather with sufficient daylight. Spring and autumn suit walking in moderate temperatures, although woodland conditions depend on rain. Carry spare water and start earlier in summer. A short winter day leaves less time for stops and transport on the full extended version.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Walking footwear with a stable sole
Water and food for the whole day
Rain protection
A junction map and spare phone power
