Route description

Los Valles reveals a quieter side of volcanic Teide. The walk begins at Minas de San José’s southern approach, in pale pumice country once used for quarrying. It then leaves the road for the named Los Valles valleys and gradually descends towards the caldera walls. Mountain scrub and evidence of its former use for fuel add a human story to these open spaces. Cañada de Las Pilas appears below Risco Verde at the ending. Here Los Valles joins Siete Cañadas and becomes part of the park’s wider network of interior basins. The finish is away from roadside arrival: choose your continuation or return beforehand, leaving time to pause among pumice and study the caldera walls.
