Route description

A walking connection begins at Col del Teide saddle on the volcano’s lower side. The path leaves the cable-car roadside area and crosses lava fields at Montaña Blanca’s base. Explore volcanic ground as you move: open sections alternate with bends among rocky forms, while the dome remains a mountain landmark. The continuation reaches Minas de San José Viewpoint before finishing on another lower roadside approach. Former pumice-quarry ground complements the lava scenery, creating an extended encounter with this part of Teide. The walk does not require a cabin ascent; its interest comes from crossing the landscape on foot. Arrange a return bus or recovery of the parked vehicle beforehand to avoid walking along the road after finishing.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
The lower beginning and ending are near bus stops, but confirm suitable journeys and road crossings beforehand. Children need stamina for the complete walk and carried water; bicycles and strollers are unsuitable for the full walking version. Dog rules and reception are unestablished.

Nearby

Montaña Blanca dome ascent and the onward climb towards La Rambleta have independent plans; regulated upper paths require the relevant permission. Teide’s summit is not visited. Montaña Majúa, El Patriarca tree and the Los Valles descent also need separate outings.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Approach the lower beginning from Teleférico del Teide bus stop; Minas de San José lies on the ending side. TITSA publishes park routes 342 and 348. Choose specific directions and journeys, check changes and assess the walking approach from the stop before travelling. A cable-car ride is not required for this walk.
By car
The beginning is on the lower cable-car roadside; the ending is beside Minas de San José on TF-21. Arrange the return between the different sides. Use the walking path rather than the road shoulder and check road condition and active restrictions before travelling.
Parking
Mirador de las Minas de San José parking is mapped on the ending side. The cable-car operator separately publishes lower-station parking hours, with entry and exit closed outside them. Check vacancies and current conditions beforehand; parking choice must account for the different walking ending.

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.

Assess traffic carefully at lower road approaches; no safe crossing is promised at every point between stop and path. Check snow, ice and temporary restrictions before departure.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 1 h 40 min–2 h 20 min
With stops | 2 h 15 min–3 h These are editorial allowances for the complete lower connection. The park separately gives around fifty minutes for each of the two portions; one portion’s timing does not describe the whole walk. Exclude bus waiting, road crossings and an independent return from these intervals.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry weather without strong wind or path closure. Carry warm layers in spring and autumn even during sunshine. Summer increases water and sun-protection needs; check snow, ice and roadside access during winter.
