Route description

This Camino de Santiago version links Tenerife’s western villages, forest paths above its northern side and Santa Cruz’s old centre. Puerto de Santiago appears on the coastal branch; the upper branch passes Santiago del Teide Square and the old Valle de Arriba chapel. Beyond San José de Los Llanos the atmosphere changes from village streets to pine-country connections and the El Lagar forest stop. La Corona Viewpoint offers a chance to study La Orotava Valley. In Los Realejos the journey passes the Santiago Apóstol church square and the surviving façade of Viera y Clavijo’s birthplace. Later, Bosque del Adelantado’s town-side edge recalls the island’s remaining laurel woodland. The selected version ends in Santa Cruz’s Concepción church quarter. This is a multi-day journey with branches. Agree the order of certain forest continuations and connections beforehand, together with open passages, nights and transport exits. For an unhurried introduction to the island, choose individually checked stages and allow time for each place.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data TITSA serves the western towns, but each forest stage needs independent logistics. The whole version suits prepared adults with agreed connections and nights. Choose an independent short town section for a family outing. Narrow mountain paths and stairs rule out a bicycle or stroller; whole-route dog rules and reception are unestablished.

Nearby

Garachico, Icod de los Vinos centre and Teide summit are not confirmed visits on this version. La Laguna’s historical centre also needs an independent outing: the selected urban passage follows its outer side. Visit Santa Cruz’s Museum of Nature and Archaeology near the ending independently under current conditions.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Certain continuations and branch order need an independent ground check with a current plan. Avoid shortcuts across slopes and closed forest passages. Account for steep paths, traffic, stairs, fog, cold and strong sun. Check fire damage, weather closures and access restrictions. At Puente de Hierro near the ending, do not rely on crossing the bridge: respect barriers and use only a permitted urban exit.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 d 3 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A day-by-day plan is not established. The selected multi-day version combines a coastal branch, mountain and forest connections, then an urban exit in Santa Cruz. First agree the sequence, open links, nights and transport escape points. Calculate route time and time with stops after choosing each actual daily stage. The annual pilgrimage’s two-day programme cannot be applied to this whole version.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dates with open forest passages and moderate conditions. Dry sunshine increases thirst and fire restrictions; cloud may hide views and make forest sections cold. Check trails and slope sections after heavy rain. Replace a closed connection with an agreed permitted stage beforehand.
