Route description

This excursion links Puerto de Santiago’s coastal side with Teide’s volcanic uplands and Vilaflor’s pines. At Archipenque, Los Gigantes cliffs rise above the ocean. Road transfers through western villages then lead into a different world: open cañadas, Llano de Ucanca and volcanic rocks replace the coastal setting. The programme combines different ways of visiting. Its cable-car section reaches La Rambleta and returns below, while Roques de García provides a separate walking stop with views of Roque Cinchado and La Catedral. On the Vilaflor side, old named Pino Gordo and Pino de las Dos Pernadas pines and San Roque Chapel’s exterior add further interest. The roadside programme then returns to the coastal base. Confirm permitted transfers, stop order and cable-car operation beforehand. This upper branch does not reach Teide summit. Any entrance onto initial Telesforo Bravo needs its own current authorisation. Plan stops so each landscape receives time for calm observation.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - Partially Mobile signal - No data The whole programme needs a vehicle or independently organised transfers; buses serve individual arrival points. Choose children’s stops around altitude and operator conditions. A bicycle is unsuitable for the whole version with motor-only roads and a cable visit. A stroller can be considered only at individual permitted lower areas, not on the mountain walk. Dog rules and reception are unestablished.

Nearby

Teide, Pico Viejo and Guajara summits need independent mountain programmes. A boat trip below Los Gigantes cliffs, Los Guíos beach and caves are outside the selected roadside and exterior stops. Vilaflor’s watermill and historical square need separate visits under current conditions. For independently planning local stops, the park gives around two hours for the ordinary Roques de García walk; ordinary upper cable visitors have a one-hour stay. These conditions concern individual visits, not the whole excursion.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
TITSA publishes route 462 for Puerto de Santiago, Los Gigantes, Tamaimo and Chío, and routes 342 and 348 for individual park roadside arrival points. These are independent arrival options, not one bus for the whole excursion. The upper ascent uses a separately ticketed operating cable car. Agree transfers, directions, collections and return to the coastal base beforehand.
By car
The main programme uses vehicle transfers on current roads through the park’s western side and Vilaflor, returning to the coastal base. TF-1 motorway and confirmed motor-only sections require vehicle travel. The upper cable section and Roques de García walk have independent entrances, without driving into them. Avoid cutting road bends or connections across slopes; confirm the current permitted transfer order before travelling.
Parking
Primary sources confirm parking stops at Archipenque, the cable-car base station and Pino Gordo. Check local conditions and vacancy. Cable-car parking has current entry and exit hours with closed gates outside them. A free space at the first coastal point or parking for the whole period is unestablished. Leave the vehicle only at each actual stop’s permitted area.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Do not follow the whole version on foot along motor-only roads or transfer vehicle connections to a bicycle. Mountain bends, oncoming traffic and weather need driver attention. Cable operation and upper paths may close; establish an available fallback plan beforehand. Account for stones and climbs at Roques de García, and altitude, wind and cold above. Certain continuations need confirmation; adding a summit requires its own permission and plan.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 45 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished The complete programme depends on confirmed transfers, chosen walking stops, queues and cable-car operation. Calculate the separate Roques de García walk independently; it is not the whole excursion’s time. Coordinate upper stay with current ticket conditions and the necessary return. Do not apply local references to the whole version or promise a number of days without an independent programme.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose moderate weather and open roads. Coastal warmth does not mean favourable high mountain conditions: wind, snow or ice may change cable and walking plans. Protect against summer sun at open stops. Check fire and weather restrictions before driving and again before ascending.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Travel documents and an agreed permitted-transfer and parking plan.
Footwear for the volcanic walking stop, warm layers, windproofs and rain protection.
Water, food, hat and sun protection.
Phone, power reserve, headlamp and first-aid kit.
Cable-car ticket and return conditions; any Telesforo Bravo entrance needs separate current authorisation and compulsory equipment.
