Route description

From Kleshnya, this outing enters the Tolbachik lava terrain created by the 2012–2013 eruption. Its main destination is Naboko cone: first the lava-flow approach, then the upper crater side, followed by a return towards the lower road. Young volcanic terrain is the focus, from uneven solidified flows to the cone’s shape seen from outside. The October bulletin announces winter closure of the entire Klyuchevskoy Nature Park. The former table exception for the Dead Forest and Northern Break does not establish present access, including Naboko. Ask the park about a separate outing and leave after access has been confirmed. The crater interior, lava caves and an ascent of Plosky Tolbachik are outside this version.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - With caution By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Poor The park advises against its main programme for children under ten. Older children need preparation for volcanic ground and supervision on the upper side. Keep dogs leashed. Cycling arrangements are unconfirmed. The park reports no reception, so another communication method is needed. These conditions do not replace permission for the closed section.

Nearby

The Dead Forest and Northern Break are other parts of the Tolbachik area and are also covered by the park’s winter closure. After confirmed reopening, the Southern Break, Zvezda cone and separate lava caves need their own agreed approaches. Plosky and Ostry Tolbachik are not summits reached by this outing. Confirm ranger accommodation and lodging near Kleshnya separately.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The park programme mentions a scheduled bus from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Kozyrevsk. Ask the carrier about the current timetable and equipment transport. Kozyrevsk to the Tolbachik area requires a separate off-road transfer; arrange it after access to Naboko has been confirmed. Delivery to Kleshnya and collection after returning need their own agreements.
By car
Base vehicle arrangements on Kozyrevsk and agreed off-road delivery to Kleshnya. An ordinary car is not assumed to be suitable for the lava approach. With the direction closed, the former approach does not establish current permission: check access to the starting road side and how the group will be collected.
Parking
The former park programme identifies Kleshnya-2 parking beside the lower road start. With Naboko currently closed, confirm access and permission to use it. Fees, services and capacity are unconfirmed. Avoid choosing a new vehicle location on the lava surface.

What to expect

Places
Naboko lava-flow approach A place on the solidified flow of the 2012–2013 eruption. It introduces the lava terrain between Kleshnya and the cone; check the surface conditions before setting out.
Crater side of Naboko cone The upper crater side formed during the same eruption. The passage explores the cone’s exterior shape; descending into the crater and reaching its exact highest point are not included.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 324 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Uneven volcanic ground makes each step more demanding and requires care around loose stones. Wind, fog and unstable edges are concerns on the upper crater side; stay on the agreed passage. Present surface temperatures and local restrictions need separate checks. Carry water, and prepare for the absence of ordinary reception and an agreed return meeting.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 3 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Complete duration with delivery and stops is unconfirmed. The wider park programme includes several different Tolbachik areas and does not establish the time for this individual Naboko outing. Allow daylight for the lava approach, the cone’s upper exterior and the return to the road start. Additional caves or other cones need their own permission and plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The summer passport gives June–September; the October bulletin announces winter closure of the entire Klyuchevskoy park. The season itself does not permit a visit. After reopening or individual approval, check snow, wind, visibility and volcanic ground conditions. Winter availability for this version is separately unconfirmed.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Footwear with a stable sole for volcanic ground, poles, wind and rain protection.
Your own water and food; drinking-water resupply is unconfirmed.
Warm layer, eye protection against wind and dust, light and first aid.
A map of the agreed approach, spare power and a communication method for a remote area.
Confirmed park access, checked rescue registration, agreed delivery and collection.
