Route description

Snow Leopard Waterfall on Spokoyny Stream follows an open approach from the turn towards Vulkanny Shelter. The road section crosses the mountain valley before giving way to a separate path and descent towards the waterfall’s viewing side. Pause opposite the broad flow to study its rocky surroundings. This version ends by the waterfall approach, followed by a return along the same side. The name remembers Kamchatka mountaineer Vladimir Shevtsov. Arrange the drop-off and return meeting beforehand, as mobile reception is not assured on the outing.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Poor Be ready for uneven ground and a confident return climb. Supervise children on wet rocks and beside the descent. Keep dogs leashed and assess their ability to negotiate the final path separately. The published passport states that reception is absent; arrange the meeting before travelling.

Nearby

Vulkanny Shelter is near the road section, with accommodation and meals requiring separate arrangements. Vilyuchinsky Pass viewpoint and its glamping site are outside this walk. Snow Leopard and Veronica’s Braids are names used for the same waterfall on Spokoyny Stream, rather than two separate stops. Nearby volcanic summits may be visible in suitable weather, but ascending them requires other routes.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Direct regular services to the initial turn are unconfirmed. Book a transfer from the Termalny side or an organised group outing with the return settled beforehand. The start is at the road branch towards Vulkanny Shelter, separately from Vilyuchinsky Pass viewpoint. Include the entire return walk to your meeting after the waterfall.
By car
The external approach follows the road from Termalny towards Mutnovsky Geothermal Power Station, branching towards Vulkanny Shelter. Check current Ustoy-M passes for the construction section. The waterfall road branch has a steep descent; continue by vehicle only after assessing suitability and conditions. Follow the final path on foot.
Parking
The passport describes road parking areas before the walking sections, including a second area before the final waterfall branch. Confirm access, charges and surface conditions before travelling. If doubtful, leave the vehicle on an agreed upper road side and continue on foot, including the extra approach and return in your plan.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 35 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 56%, Dirt 46%, Gravel 1%.
Риски The final descent to the viewing side can be slippery, with large wet rocks beside the water. The passport notes possible rockfall: avoid lingering beneath unstable ledges or entering the falling flow. Snow patches and rain may require an earlier turnaround. Assess the return climb before descending, while energy and daylight remain.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 4 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Plan a day outing with a separate return from the waterfall. Complete duration is unconfirmed. Allow for the road transfer, open approach, final path and a safe viewing pause. Retain daylight for the climb back and walk to your prearranged meeting instead of extending the final stop.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For a first outing, choose settled snow-free weather in July–October, the season listed in the passport; the short portal card also includes June. Check early-summer snow and descent conditions separately. Confirm autumn road passage and snow conditions beforehand; postpone viewing during heavy rain or ice.
