Route description

This Gorely version presents the southern crater side and a separate lower approach towards the volcano. The upper section encounters the Side Crater, whose small rocky outline can be viewed externally without descending into its bowl. Lower down, the slope gives way to the open road side of the plateau. Before travelling, agree the permitted walking sequence and the connection between the upper outing and road meeting with the park. A complete closed outing is unconfirmed here. The park’s summer programme opens seasonally, while current snow conditions and road permission require separate checks.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Poor The park advises against its ordinary ascent for children under ten. Supervise older children on the open slope and crater side. Keep dogs leashed and away from dangerous edges. The passport reports no mobile reception; arrange another communication method for the remote section.

Nearby

Hot and Cold Crater Lakes lie beside the upper section, but an independent approach to their water is unconfirmed here. The main summit crater, a separate elevated viewpoint and lava caves need another checked passage. Mutnovsky, Dachnye Springs and Opasny Canyon are separate directions with their own access conditions, outside this outing.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular services to the upper walk or initial slope side are unconfirmed. Arrange transport and a meeting with a local provider after checking opening, road permission and the walking transition. Reaching Yelizovo or Termalny requires further separate arrangements.
By car
The approach uses the regulated technical road from Termalny through Vilyuchinsky Pass. Arrange separate road permission with the construction company and check passability. Leave the vehicle in the designated foothill area and continue on foot. Agree the precise connection to the initial slope side beforehand.
Parking
The passport confirms a vehicle area at Gorely’s foot. This version needs a separate approach to it; the starting side is not established directly in that area. Fees, capacity and current condition are unconfirmed. Use only the permitted location and keep vehicles off the slope and crater side.

What to expect

Places
Exterior side of Gorely’s Side Crater — A small named crater formation beside the upper passage. View it from the permitted path side; descending into the bowl or walking its exact rim is outside the confirmed visit.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The exposed slope can be windy, foggy or icy. Follow the current path beside the crater landscape, avoid unreliable edges and do not descend towards water or gas outlets. A dated autumn park bulletin reported snow on Gorely; check the actual risk before travelling. The connection between the upper passage and road side needs a separate check, particularly in poor visibility.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 57 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Complete duration is unconfirmed. Agree the upper walk, lower approach, extra return and road meeting as parts of one day plan. Leave a reserve for worsening visibility and an early return. The standard duration of the park’s complete ascent does not automatically describe this version; a closed circuit and overnight arrangements are unconfirmed.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The summer programme is published for June–October, subject to actual opening and permission. Late-autumn snow can change the slope conditions entirely. Check the current bulletin, wind and visibility, adjusting the plan with the park if conditions worsen. The current list marks the winter direction closed; it requires different arrangements.
