Route description

This long running circuit from Volokolamskaya reveals two sides of Krasnogorsk. Forest clearings and winding paths through the local skiing woods lead towards Anikeevka. A western branch heads in the direction of Lake Generalskoye before the route returns through Opalikha, where woodland gradually gives way to town parks. Keep the pace comfortable: the forest section takes stamina, while the town offers places worth pausing for. At Ivanovskie Ponds, stop by the Reflection viewpoint before continuing towards Znamensky Church. The Polyakov family chapel and Defenders of the Fatherland memorial stand nearby. Krasnogorsk streets then lead back to the metro. This option suits experienced runners who enjoy changing surroundings; quiet park paths alternate with road sections and railway crossings.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Combine a sustained woodland run with a visit to old Krasnogorsk. Ivanovskie Ponds change the rhythm, replacing dirt paths with reflections, landscaped walks and the architecture of Znamensky Church. Returning to the same metro station makes the travel arrangements straightforward.

Nearby

Lake Generalskoye west of Anikeevka and Generalsky Pond in Ivanovskie Ponds park are different waters. The western branch turns around in woodland near the lake; unrestricted access to the shoreline is unconfirmed, so do not plan on a beach or swim. Visiting Znamenskoye-Gubailovo’s main house or the church interior needs a separate stop and an opening check. Open shops in town can provide water supplies; woodland streams are not verified drinking sources.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Start and finish beside exit 1 of Volokolamskaya metro on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. Choose the metro station: the MCD railway stop with the same name is separate and farther south. If ending your run early near Anikeevka, plan the platform approach and return train separately; this shortens the full circuit.
By car
Arrive on the town side of Volokolamskaya metro near Novotushinsky Passage. The complete circuit returns to the same neighbourhood. For support, choose permitted town-side meeting places; woodland clearings and closed Opalikha roads are not vehicle approaches.
Parking
City parking 9211 is beside Volokolamskaya metro. A separate short walk connects it with the circuit start. Check current opening arrangements, charges and spaces with Moscow Parking before travelling; free parking for the entire run is not established. Do not use neighbouring courtyards or block gates without permission.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 602 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 32%, Dirt 31%, Paving stones 9%, Unknown 17%.
Риски The long woodland section needs endurance and independent navigation. Rain softens the ground; roots, descents and uneven clearings require care. Near Anikeevka and on the town return, use only current designated railway crossings. Slow down beside roads and choose a safe pedestrian passage. Confirm access through gates on the Opalikha side before setting out; do not cross fences to bypass closures. Give way to walkers in parks and walk through the churchyard.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 7 h 9 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Keep a full day free for the complete running circuit, including rests and travel to the metro. No verified completion time is available for this option: fitness, ground conditions and stops all matter. Decide in advance when to turn back or shorten the outing if the woodland section takes longer than expected. Walking the whole route needs a separate, longer plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Cool weather, dry woodland paths and long daylight suit this run best. Spring thaw and prolonged autumn rain make low ground harder; fallen leaves hide roots. In winter, check ice and access beside the ski network, and keep off prepared ski grooves.

Drinking water and familiar food for a long run
