Route description

Snegiri, Luzhki, Surmino and Dyutkovo form a journey through small river valleys west of Moscow. A village memorial and the Church of St Peter and St Paul precede the wooden suspension bridge over the Istra. Beyond Surmino, woodland roads lead towards Korallovo and the Storozhka, the river beside which Dyutkovo retains its country-house character. This older running option has a significant limitation: its southern continuation towards Zvenigorod station uses a railway bridge over the Moscow River, with no confirmed public pedestrian passage. Before travelling, arrange a permitted alternative crossing and revise the finish, or end the outing earlier. The complete original option should not be followed without resolving this.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Choose a woodland day with distinct historical and riverside stops: look at the church in Luzhki, pause beside the Istra, and reach the Storozhka valley and Dyutkovo. These places combine well with a separately arranged Taneyev Museum visit. A carefully chosen accessible section with a clear return plan will make a more rewarding day without the unresolved railway crossing.

Nearby

The Taneyev Museum in Dyutkovo occupies a small village house, introducing the composer, his personal belongings and the atmosphere of an early twentieth-century country home. It needs a separate approach from the main passage; arrange opening hours and admission independently. Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Zvenigorod’s historic centre are not required stops on this option. The Korallovo chapel should not be confused with the lost Tolga church, and the lyceum grounds are not included.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The original start lies west of Snegiri station and needs a separate approach from the exit. The original finish is beside Zvenigorod station, but a return from there depends on resolving a permitted Moscow River crossing. For an independently shortened northern outing, check Dyudkovo railway stop, including lawful access, the selected train and service on your travel day. The railway itself is not a walking route to the platform.
By car
Arrange a drop-off in Snegiri and collection on a chosen accessible side of Dyutkovo or another settlement. Set the meeting point before the unverified crossing. Returning to a car at the start requires separate transport. Narrow village lanes and woodland roads are unsuitable for following the running group by vehicle.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Check a permitted location and allowed duration at your chosen drop-off; station and museum spaces are not automatically available. Keep private entrances, church approaches and stops clear. Collect the group where a vehicle will not obstruct the village road.

What to expect

Places
Kryukovo Villagers War Memorial a place of remembrance on the first village section.

Nativity of the Virgin Chapel in Korallovo a small fenced roadside building, viewed from outside.
Storozhka in Dyutkovo a river bend beside the village road crossing.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 583 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 39%, Dirt / grass 6%, Dirt 5%, Unknown 40%.
Риски The main obstacle to the complete option is the Moscow River railway bridge on the southern continuation. No public pedestrian crossing is confirmed there: do not enter the bridge or railway, and arrange an earlier finish or a different permitted crossing in advance. Walking along the railway as a shortcut is also excluded. Between the Ershovo skiing network and Dyutkovo, the author reports overgrowth and difficult navigation; the eastern horse path becomes badly churned in wet weather. Check permitted access on restricted roads near Lamonovo. Inspect the Istra suspension footbridge separately, and take care around vehicles on village road crossings.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 12 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow a full day and an early start for the chosen longer running section, with ample time for junctions. No verified completion time exists for the whole option. Decide on a permitted finish and return transport before scheduling church and riverside pauses. Arrange the Taneyev Museum separately. Avoid relying on the last train or on a fire site near the 192 km railway stop.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry, cool weather makes woodland passages and climbs out of river hollows easier. Prolonged rain worsens horse paths and forest roads; spring requires separate water and bridge checks. Winter ice cannot replace a permitted bridge, and snow may hide paths and slope edges. The season does not resolve the railway section, which needs excluding or replacing beforehand.
