Route description

The long ski outing from Sanatornaya to Dachnoye begins on the Moscow River side near the Polushkino springs, then enters the western woodland. The Setun beside Setunka and the spring near an older resting area provide the first distinctive river pause. The winter day then changes character, reaching the Ostrovnya and Nakhavnya, the Zvenigorod station approach and the woodland continuation beside the Khaliava. The later section reaches the Bolshaya and Malaya Vyazyomka. Two separate footbridges cross the Malaya Vyazyomka before the continuation towards Dachnoye. This is a demanding day option for confident skiers, combining prolonged independent movement through different river valleys with occasional pauses at specific springs and crossings. Check snow conditions, permitted river and railway connections and the possibility of finishing early at Zvenigorod before travelling. The author’s winter programme does not establish present ski-path conditions. Select the complete outing after checking the whole return plan.

Nearby

Zvenigorod station is separate from the historic centre. The town’s museums and Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery need another journey and visiting time. Polushkino quarries and Vasilyevskoye estate sights also belong to separate walks. The older Setun group resting place does not establish present food, a fire, drinking-water quality or overnight permission.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Sanatornaya is the starting railway halt and Dachnoye the finishing one. Confirm that your chosen trains stop at both and check ski carriage conditions. Zvenigorod can serve as an intermediate exit after its permitted station approach and services are checked. Older group departure times are not a current timetable. Allow spare time to reach a suitable return train from the later section.
By car
Arrange a drop-off on the Sanatornaya side and collection beside an accessible road towards Dachnoye. For an early finish, arrange a separate meeting on the Zvenigorod station side. A car left at the start needs an independent retrieval journey. Check winter road conditions and the permitted drop-off place before travelling.
Parking
Verified parking for leaving a car is unavailable at either end halt. An area is mapped on the intermediate Zvenigorod station side, but access conditions, charges and a long stay are unconfirmed. Do not rely on sanatorium parking or closed grounds along the way without separate agreement.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 881 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 25%, Dirt 14%, Asphalt 10%, Unknown 38%.
Риски This outing needs prepared skiers with spare energy for the later continuation. Crusted snow and icy descents may require removing skis. Establish a current permitted connection at the Setun and Ostrovnya; snow does not demonstrate water or ice safety. Use operating permitted railway crossings towards the Lutsinskoye and Zvenigorod sides, avoiding the railway line itself. The Central Ring Road passes on bridge structures: the ski outing does not provide access to its carriageway, and the ground connection beneath needs checking.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 10 h 51 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
This is a long sporting day option, without an established overnight programme. A verified full duration is unavailable. Start early, allowing for snow conditions, crossings with skis removed and spare time before the return train. Establish early-finish arrangements at Zvenigorod. If crossing conditions or pace prevent the later section, use the agreed intermediate exit.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Stable snow suitable for country skiing and a calm forecast for the whole day are needed. Thaws, icy crust and prolonged rain change conditions on bridges, banks and descents. Ski-path maintenance throughout is unconfirmed. Unstable snow needs a separate assessment and may favour a shorter checked outing.
