Route description

The ascent from Slyudyanka passes the town’s locomotive monument and follows the wooded valley towards Chersky Peak. The sustained valley section gradually gives way to open summits; beyond the First and Second Bare Summits, the route follows the upper ridge to the actual peak. Clear weather reveals Khamar-Daban’s mountain panorama. Railway history in town and the open summit supply two very different experiences. This variant finishes on the peak: arrange a return to Slyudyanka or onward accommodation separately. Heart Lake remains below, so seeing it from above does not replace a separate descent to its shore. Success depends on crossings, weather and energy for the eventual exit.
