Route description

Beginning in Shlyuz, this walk follows the urban and shoreline side of Sovetsky District before finishing at Duck Lake by Zolotodolinskaya Street. The mood changes along the way: the Ob Sea invites a pause for its open space, while the small woodland lake calls for a slower moment among the trees. Streets, woodland paths and crossings link the shoreline with Akademgorodok. The walk uses Artists Bridge over Berdskoye Highway. Reconstruction was announced for 2026, with the refurbished bridge planned to open in summer 2027, so establish whether passage is available before setting out. Some shoreline driveways also have their own access conditions. The lake at the finish is the Zolotodolinskaya waterbody familiar to residents of upper Akademgorodok. Leave time for a quiet pause and choose your approach according to the current condition of shore paths. Arrange the return to Shlyuz separately: this outing unfolds as a journey between two neighbourhoods.

Nearby

Red Bench stands slightly off the later part of the walk and can be a separate short stop. Star Beach, Sun City Beach and Akademgorodok Central Beach are near the shoreline direction; check entry and recreation conditions separately. Duck Backwater in Shlyuz is a different waterbody on a drainage channel. Zemlyanka Museum on Truzhenikov Street requires an advance booking and a separate approach.

Without a car
The start is immediately beside Shlyuz bus stop. Check the operating service and correct boarding side. Zhemchuzhnaya Street stop appears later, before the final approach to the lake. Returning from the lake requires a separate exit to a public street and your chosen transport; check current services beforehand.
By car
Reach the start on Shlyuz urban roads and choose a permitted drop-off. Shore facilities may have separate vehicle-entry conditions. Arrange collection on an accessible public street on the Akademgorodok side; private driveways by the lake are not a guaranteed approach to the water.
Parking
Public parking is mapped near the Shlyuz start. Check the mapped free-parking indication against current signs and rules. Finish-side lake parking is unverified. Customer parking along the shoreline has separate conditions and should not replace an agreed parking plan.

Check both crossings before leaving; a closed bridge must not be replaced by crossing railway lines or the highway at an arbitrary point. A railway spur is also crossed near Shlyuz, using an operating permitted crossing. Establish permission for customer and private driveways. Damaged boardwalks and railings were previously reported at Duck Lake, so assess their current condition. Rain and frost can make shore paths and steps slippery.
