Route description

From Bolshoy Mamay’s wooded valley, this passage climbs Polyana, descends towards Osinovka and regains mountain ground towards Obruchev’s summit, also known as Neftyanik. A demanding ridge section then heads towards Baikal Pass. Beyond the pass the journey changes character: Gramotukha valley, Grokhotun and river-side return towards Vydrino along Snezhnaya. The mountain summits and waterfall are actual parts of this passage. The ending lies on lower Vydrino’s side rather than Baikal’s beach. Check current connections, crossings and cliff bypasses independently. Establish Burpriroda agreement for the Mamay section and prepare the full multi-day plan with mountain-weather reserves.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For an experienced self-sufficient mountain group able to assess rocky bypasses, snow and river crossings. The historical four-day account’s casual title does not establish easy recreation. Check animal and overnight rules throughout your selected territories.

Nearby

Sobolinoye lakes and Skazka belong to a separate lake branch, excluded here. Baikal’s shore requires independent continuation beyond Vydrino. A one-day Polyana ascent and another passage towards Barun-Selenginka are separate variants with their own endings.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Beyond Osinovka comes another sustained ascent, with demanding cliff bypasses between Obruchev’s summit and the pass side. A direct ridge line does not guarantee passage. In Gramotukha valley the path follows a steep river slope; Grokhotun may involve wet stones and an independently checked crossing. Establish current bridges, snow patches and connections beforehand. Avoid continuing the ridge section in poor visibility without a reliable solution.

How much time to allow

This variant’s complete duration is unconfirmed. A day-by-day plan is not established. Divide the multi-day outing between checked overnights and fallback exits, allowing for the second mountain ascent and valley crossings. Four days taken by the historical party are not transferred to all visitors: weather and passage conditions may require substantial reserves. Leave a margin for Vydrino collection.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The snow-free mountain season with a stable forecast and passable river crossings. Remaining snow, heavy rain and fog alter ridge-bypass difficulty. Check current Mamay admission before departure; winter valley skiing does not establish safe winter passage across these summits and pass.
